what does it matter? best team wins it all

does the number 1 versus number 2 seed in the ncaa ball tourney matter? no. best team wins

it must be some weird ego thing.

and ohio state is legit as hell. should be a great game

You have to win 2 games to win the title and I just think people would rather play Utah/Baylor/OU, than play Clemson first

It's not that unreasonable

One seed plays four seed.
Two seed plays three seed.

At the moment Ohio State will likely play Utah?

LSU would play Clemson. If LSU wins then they’d play Ohio State.

Would you prefer to play Clemson or Utah to get to finals?

It only matters in terms of the semi final opponent. #1 has a perceived easier path against Utah or Oklahoma.

It matters on where we play first game and against who. I'd much rather play in ATL against Utah than in Arizona against Clemson first round.

LSU's next three opponents are #4 UGA, #3 Clemson and possible #1 Ohio St. That's ridiculous considering the schedule they've already played.

Everyone assumes tOSU wins against the #4.

It's a fair assumption, but still an assumption.

We are essentially playing an extra round in the playoffs facing a top 4 opponent, and a win apparently wouldn’t mean anything to the committee. It’s really nuts. #2 is playing #4 in the postseason and it’s not a playoff game. That game should earn us something if we win.

#4 seed will be stiff drop in skill from 1-3. Alsonmy understanding is #1 seed chooses venue, which 1-3 will choose Atlanta. Big 10 is suspect

Probably a matter of right now 3 seed is a stronger opponent than the unknown 4 seed. Could be the resume of current #2 appears stronger than #1.

We plan to destroy both Clemson and Ohio State but the committee is full of shite.

We are sick and fricking tired of cfb "officials" trying to tip the fricking scale no matter the agenda.

Set rules, line em up and play by those rules. May the best team win.

Its pretty fricking simple.

There's a clear top 3 this year then a huge drop off.

ohio state is legit as he

And so is Clemson. I'd much rather only have to beat 1 or them than both. we've earned every advantage we can get after the schedule we have played (esp. after we beatdown the dawgs on saturday).

on the flipside I'd much rather Ohio State have harder road.

Also the 1/4 game is in Atlanta. I think it benefits us playing in Atlanta again (easier fan access, we just played there 3 weeks prior in SECCG, familiarity with Stadium, hotel, etc.)

Absurd comparison. Do better

I’ve never seen fans try to pretend that playoff seeding doesn’t matter. Until now.

Saints should not try to win homefield advantage bc the harder route is more chivalrous y’all.

I believe tOSU is a terrific team and can accept that some believe the deserve the be #1.

But, the bull shite that the committee has pulled with respect to downstream rankings to prop up that position deserves to be called out.

If they had played all of it straight and simply said “we believe tOSU is slightly better than LSU” I’d be disappointed but fine with accepting it.

I don't have an issue with whether we're #1 or #2. My issue is with the double talk about the criteria for this team over that team, whether it's 1&2 or 7&8. Every week the committee contradicts itself in front of a national audience and nobody but the AAC Commissioner has the balls to call them out for it.

LSU is either the best or it isn’t. Bring ‘em all so we can find out. All of this hand-wringing over the relative ease of path is for folks who don’t believe that their team really is the best.

I’m not upset. If we are the best, we’ll win out.

Why do some of you keep asking this question? Haven't you already read our reasoning? Do you want a different answer?

I guarantee you that if LSU jumps back over OSU after this Saturday, OSU fans will say the SAME things we've been saying. And I have zero doubt that Clemson fans are screaming "disrespect" at being number 3, because their coach already is. Everyone wants to be #1, not just for bragging rights, but especially because the 4 seed in THIS particular year is a huge drop off from any of the top 3.

Of course, you can't take anyone for granted, and players and coaches know this. But looking at it from the outside, it's easy to see how potentially playing Utah in the first round figures to be a MUCH "easier" match up.

And, again, this has been stated for over a week.

For several reasons but mainly 2

- The difference in the 3 seed and the 4 seed this year is enormous

- Atlanta vs Arizona
