You said the #9 and #12 seeded teams. So make up your mind.

You would rather the CFP just be 4 teams? People will always find something to bitch about.

You win the conference you get a bye. You are saying that should not be the case? Conference champions do not get a bye? That ND should be a top 4 seed every year bc they play a soft schedule?

No I personally would like a 8 team playoff.

Yes I am saying that.

No? Did you know that Notre Dame had the 12th ranked SOS last year?

You are saying that the conference champions should not get a bye? Well then ND would get a top 4 seed every year then if no byes are given for any teams under your scenario.

Also what would the incentive to play in the conference championship game? UGA and Texas were in regardless so was Oregon and Penn State. Based on rankings going in Oregon was going to be Number 1 and UGA number 2. Why play the game?

Penn State was in and they would host as would Texas. Why risk injury if not going to have a bye and just host the first round game.

The byes are incentives to play conference championship games bc if not, then that is the scenario that will play out.

I’m rooting for Boise too. A year where the 2 D1 champs come from Idaho and ND/MT would be comforting in this nil era imo. Hate to see the winners be teams that were just straight bought and paid for

Their chances are slim to none but it’d be a great Cinderella story

They can get a bye if they are a top 4 team. Same with Notre Dame. I think the top 4 teams should get the top 4 seeds. Period.

Idk. They can honestly get rid of them if they want. Or let it be known that if you refuse to play in your conference championship game you will not be considered for a top 4 seed.

Get rid of the committee, use computer rankings, no auto bids for conf championships.

The conferences would not have a championship game. If the top 2 teams were ranked like they were this year, why would the conference risk losing those top spots.

If the SEC was guaranteed to have 2 of the top 4 spots, they would declare the higher seed as champ and then have both teams in a position to win the CFP. Same goes for Big10

The reason the conference champions have a bye is bc the pressure will be on ND to actually join a conference bc at some point they will want a bye.

root all you want....they do not belong. There is no way in hell that teams with a bye (top 4 seeds) should be double digit underdogs to teams that had to play the first round. Both Boise and Ariz State are double digit. It isn't fair to Oregon and Ga. Oregon's reward for going undefeated and winning the big 10....a meeting with Ohio State. Texas reward for losing the SEC Championship and losing 2 games....and joke against AZ State. Penn St? Same thing...

How pissed would you be right now if you're an Oregon fan? You have this great season and earn the #1 seed and now you have to beat Ohio State again just to advance while lower seeds are playing randos like Boise State and Arizona State. Obviously those aren't guaranteed wins for Penn State and Texas but those teams will gladly take their chances instead of facing off with an Ohio State team that has the talent to beat anybody on a given day.

Maybe they'll look at reseeding in the future. Or maybe they'll rethink conference champions getting automatic byes. I don't care about ASU and Boise State winning their conferences, they had no business being ranked ahead of Texas and Ohio State.

Because the committee botched the seeding pretty bad which screws the 1 or 2 seed. Ohio State is a better team than Boise State, Arizona Sate and Penn state which are all seeded higher than OSU. The fact that Boise State and Arizona State got byes just proves how incompetent this committee is. Therefore the 1 seed gets a harder road to the championship than the 4,5 or 6 seed.

It is almost like Texas has been designated all year to win the championship

They will have to beat Georgia and Oregon to do that. And if they do they’ll deserve it. The team with the cakewalk into the championship is Georgia.

Boise clearly should not be 3. I get they “earned” it by way of being the highest ranked non-P4 (maybe they also had to be ranked ahead of a P4 champ?).

But in no world is anyone going to argue that Boise should be ranked 3. In fact, they’re ranked 10th in the CFP poll.

The committee had no say in that. It’s the rules for the playoff. The only team that didn’t get a bye that was eligible was Clemson.

Top 3 P4 champs get a bye. Highest ranked G5 champ gets a bye IF they are ranked higher than a P4 champ.

Boise wasn’t getting a bye no matter what, Clemson winning gave ASU a bye that would have gone to SMU.

Ok. I literally said they can get rid of conference championships if they want.

LOL. Texas has played how many top 25 teams this year? Don't count Michigan....they were obviously rated early due to last year. You could not get an easier conference schedule than Texas got.

Georgia? They played Clemson and GT out of conference. They played Texas twice. They played Alabama. They played OM. They played TN.

They will now play Notre Dame, while Texas will play AZ State. LOL

I don't know if you are trolling, but if not, bless your heart.

Trolling? I think it’s a fact, that if Texas wins the championship they will have to beat Georgia and Oregon. Why are you blessing my heart for pointing that out? Maybe it’s wrong?
