Some thoughts:

- Stanfield haters are punching air right now

- Hernandez leading the team in HRs and 2nd in average, he's coming around nicely

- Bear and Milam have struggled in SEC play and we're still 10-2

- Curiel is also still a stud

- Cowan has exceeded even my highest expectations.

- Evans is a stud and can't wait to watch him for a couple more years

- Hopefully pitching can build off this weekend and continue coming around.

A .118 batting average against is completely obscene

Cowan is just owning everyone with that changeup

It's really, really nice when the bottom of your lineup can hit... All I've got to say.

No problem. These are just screenshotted from the LSU sports website. Just go find baseball stats and there's a link that filters SEC stats only.

They are always readily available on LSU's website.

I know Curiel is draft eligible next year. Is Evans?

I'd like Noot and Ware to get more action because while it's nice that Evans and Cowan can go long we also need to prep a plan B. That is also leaving out Schmidt (if he figures some things out) and Guidry (if he gets healthy).

I'd like Williams and Rizy to find roles but that is easier said than done when we have 4 pitchers who can eat 18 innings.

Stanfield, Hernandez, Dickinson 3 of top 4 in SEC play....its almost like this Johnson guy knows how to find talent.

Stanfield haters

They couldn't grasp that since he had already played so many SEC games he wasn't going to have any drop off after nonconference. He had seen the pitching before and teams already had scouting reports on him anyway so there was never going to be any adjustment for him. It seemed so obvious he was going to be one of our better performers in conference play.

Catcher was where I was really concerned in preseason but Hernandez has been so much better than I had hoped. Arrambide is starting to come along as well and I predict that we will be able to trust him to start games in the postseason to give Hernandez some rest

It is so nice to have a guy like him, just baffling hitters and it will not depend on him having his best stuff week in and week out. He gets so many out of zone chases, he doesnt have to always be in the zone to get outs.

Curiel, Rizy and John Pearson were the only freshmen who were 19 at the time of the draft last year, so everyone else is here all 3 years for sure (unless they transfer).

Safe bet John Pearson is probably here more than just 2 years.

It was actually a really old class overall for us. All of the other guys were all pretty close to 19 at the time of the draft just a month or few months short:

18 years 9 months old at 2024 draft
- Schmidt
- Arrambide
- Williams
- Evans
- Costello

18 years 10 months old at 2024 draft
- Ryan

18 years 11 months old at 2024 draft
- Hogg

These two will determine how far LSU goes, when it matters

Also Hernandez' durability/stamina have been crazy good. Feels like we never have 1 catcher start all SEC games and he's done all 12 so far. And almost start to finish in all 12. In fact I think Arrambide only came in to bat for him in the 9th inning of the 2nd Texas loss, and never actually caught

They’re winning us game. I bet their offensive contributions won us 5 of the 10 games. At least

Luis has been a dude behind the plate since offseason live play began. It was obvious that he would have to be the primary catcher when the season began while Arrambide refined his receiving skills and the chips were down on the table.

There was some swing and miss as he adjusted to this level of competition but the only knock that I could give him was that he tended to BIDP more than I would have liked. Glad to see him having a good start to conference play and getting some recognition for it.

It’s kind of crazy what 2 homeruns in a game can do to blind people from an absolutely terrible start to SEC play for Pearson.

The threads on this board that would be started if this was Larsons numbers would be incomprehensible. Without looking at numbers this is probably Kling 2024 level bad.

Count me in the minority that thinks Pearson and his career .250 average needs to be a pinch hitter at best going forward.
