Play calling had me most frustrated

Ya Leavitt didn’t play great.
OL & DL got wrecked in 1st H.
What was annoying was Bakers scheme.
No pressing WR’s. Allowing Chambliss to stay in a comfortable state with WR’s & timing.
What really annoyed me more was Weis and the play calling.
I figured first couple games the coaches called more conservative gameplan to open it up with SEC play.
No bubble screens. No screens whatsoever.
No short, quick passes at the LOS.
No scheme to offset their defense heavy on one side of the field, to create space on the opposite side.
Little RPOs.
Especially on the road, hostile environment and om playing a Super Bowl like game for them.
A lot to be proud of with the fight in the players.
But the lack of creativity with play calling was mind boggling to me.
Yes question the arm of Leavitt, totally but with how their DLine was bullying our Oline, I expected more quick, less than 2 second snap to pass plays.

Too many passing plays in the first two series. Needed to establish a run game early on.

We don’t have much space to operate short because we have no deep threat.
Also Leavitt struggles to even execute quick short passes. He’s been off target on several, he tucks and runs, he’s had 6 or 7 batted down already.

I’m really interested to know how the play calling breaks down between Lane and Weis.
Everyone seems to love that guy, but he is not reason I was exciting to finally have a guru on our sidelines.

I barely saw any drop backs where he would have had time for plays to develop past the safeties

They were not hard passes. I think they were wanting to ease him into the game with some short passes. The OL just got so blown up that even easy passes were hard...and Sam became uncomfortable in the pocket immediately and became a run-first QB all night.

Did you notice Lane had a play calling sheet I think late in the 3rd and going into 4th q?

The play calling was bad because we were too predictable. The whole first half, it would go like this
1st down - pass (incomplete or very short gain)
2nd down - run (they’d have 9 guys in the box every play)
3rd down - pass again
It was way too predictable

Due to the familiarity with Lane and his O, the D really needed to carry them and they failed miserably.
Baker so far is not worth the money he is paid. He did not have them ready at all and continued to rush 3 and get shredded.

Ya he didn’t throw past 5 yards bc he didn’t have time
Since he didn’t have time - how about quicker, less process thinking plays?
- Ball right hash: Motion jones out left, snap it and pass it. WR’s block for him.
- Trips out left/right: Snap & pass it.
- WR motion, handoff to Watkins.
- Slant routes w/ Green & Harris.

Yeah, I said it all last night. Charlie Weis hasn't lived up to his hype. Lane might have to take over the play calling - especially with a QB like Leavitt.
It is like they prepared all off season to beat Clemson. Head Scratching.

Not I, Pete knew what offensive schemes we would run plus us acquiring a whole new team that was built from scratch. Add that to this game played in Oxford and Chambliss being allowed to play, we weren’t meant to dominate this game.

I’ll never understand why they refuse to throw the ball to TraeDez more. No one can cover him and he’s automatic first down. I pray that man is ok.

Both of our decorated coordinators had the worst game they will have all year.....or at least we need to hope so. Both were very poor.
