Mr. Swanson, didn't your dad coach or play at LSU? Wasn't he the Superintendent at LTI Monroe. A legend indeed. Back when LTI was more of a boys school that a jail, they played LHSAA sports and he probably coached Art Cantrelle and Joe Labruzzo at LTI. Also, the football field or gym was named after him.

I might be off on some of this but you can straighten me out.

I know Joe Adcock told me when he was playing basketball at LSU, the first baseman was injured with a handful of games left in the season,. Mr. Swanson came over to the dorm and asked Joe to fill in for the remainder of the year. Joe told him he'd never picked up a bat even in the cow pastures of Red River Parish. Mr. Swanson convinced him to help the team out.

Joe's first at bat, ever, much less in a college game versus Tennessee, hit a home run. Apparently Mr. Swanson knew his business as Joe went on to be a damn good major leaguer.

While I would pray they would build, there is nothing in their DNA that says that treat Skenes any differently. He is damn near a lock to have success. If he does, they will probably still be in the cellar and will convince themselves to trade him for the betterment of the team.

Myfather played in the first game in tiger stqdium, 1921 i think. Hew also coached the lsu baseball and basketball team and won the sec in 1940 in baseball. He had couple of big leagueplayers when he coached. He was the superintenden of LTI, then named southsde high and Joe Labruzzo and Cantrell both plsyed for southside. He did not coachthere, but the facility now is called Swanson correctional institute.

LSU fans need to know the Pirates winter in Bradenton, Fla just south of Tampa.

Sure you could see some games with Skenes pitching and also drive on to Disneyworld not far away.

I would say there are more than that, we grew up hearing stories about the 50s Pelicans players being a major part of the Pirates 60 World Series, from manager Danny Murtaugh to players like Elroy Face and Dick “Dr. Strangeglove” Stuart. Unfortunately most are now in their 80s and 90s
