LSU has to limit turnovers. Pitt turns it over at one of the lowest rates in the entire country. If LSU is careless with the basketball it would take another Kansas St. like rebounding effort to make up for the extra possessions.
On another note, even though it's a neutral site, playing in a hotel ballroom with a shallow back drop should lend itself to a decent shooting shooting day for both teams I would think

Absolutely!
It's been the biggest killer of LSU's offense for over two years now. LSU doesn't shoot the ball that poorly. They just turn the ball over like it is their job. What that does is lessen LSU's shot attempts and increases the opponent's. Shooting 50% on 50 FGA results in less made baskets than your opponent shooting 45% on 60 FGA.

I’m encouraged with our squad after that showing against Kansas State. Looking forward to seeing how we stack up against a formidable opponent. Should be a good litmus test for what this team is capable of.
Much more optimistic about the basketball program than the football program at the moment

Small sample size, but they’ve looked like 2 completely different teams between K State and Charleston Southern
Agreed, I was a bit concerned about how much we got pushed around and beaten on all the 50/50 ball by Charleston.
Effort will always be non-negotiable for me but I understand motivation as a factor. I think this game will tell us more than any other so far this year.

Looks like the ball may hit the celling. Are they playing in a ball room.? Will there be a line dance before or after the game?

Yes.

I agree. If you get dominated on the glass it is almost always because the other team simply played harder. Vs. CSU they were sending 3-4 guys to the rim on every CSU shot. LSU looked dumbfounded, standing flat footed as CSU crashed the board. That was a complete reversal from the game at KSU.
The trend for McMahon has been to play well in the holiday tournament then fall off throughout the remainder of the non-conf. schedule...before playing well to start SEC play. (Even in 2022-23 LSU struggled to beat lesser opponents following a sold performance in the holiday tournament).
Last year LSU should have beaten a good Dayton team. They then beat North Tex. and Wake Forest. After that things went south.
This year LSU played well in their first jump in competition (just like they have in the past). This weekend should give us an idea if LSU can sustain that this season, or if the prior trend will hold...good game in the first "step up", downhill after that.

is CBSSN streamable?
I couldn't find it on the paramount app, weirdly. But I've been able to stream it from the CBS Sports app with my paramount subscription.

Time for Robert Miller to make an impact.

I like the matchup with Bailey for us. Let’s see if he’s up for the challenge.

Someone else said it but if this is a half court slower game LSU might get cooked. LSU needs to look to push the pace throughout the game.
That starts with rebounding and getting into transition, that's why the looked good against K-state (along with defense).
Also it's time for Jalen Reed to have a good game, Matt said it in the post game after Charleston southern. He still expects Reed to have a big year so it's time for that to start.

What a shitty venue. A low-ceiling hotel meeting room that seats about 200 people. And the floor is probably shitty as hell. Hope we don’t have any serious injuries from this tournament like WBB with Sa’Myah Smith on that shite floor in the Caymans last season.

I did not see the K-State game so I can't really comment on it other than from pure perception from looking at the stats.
But I did see the Charleston game live and they had some size and we really didn't handle it to well. Not sure how much of that was lack of effort and motivation or we just may not match up well against big, physical teams.
Time will tell but I've seen enough of the latter the last two years to be concerned.

Hopefully LSU doesn’t get embarrassed today. Not sold on McMahon but whatever.

Reed is 6'10, 240lb; Chest is physical, R. Miller is 6'10 with length, Collins is an explosive leaper. There is no reason this team should be a solid rebounding team other than a lack of emphasis/effort.
In 2018 I watched an LSU team get destroyed on the glass vs. Florida St in a game LSU had no business losing otherwise. After that, rebounding became a huge point of emphasis. Not surprisingly, LSU became one of the best rebounding teams in the nation from that point on.
Rebounding and defense is mostly effort and desire. Saying that is great, but it only comes into fruition when a coach demands both and doesn't accept anything less. I will say this though, McMahon was as visibly angry vs. Charleston So as I've seen him in much of his time at LSU. My hope is the message was heard loud and clear that if LSU doesn't want to be physical and play with effort today they will likely be embarassed.
