I’m not so sure about that, LSU traditionally sits their ace in that game But this is a new coach and some 4 seeds are actually pretty good, we lose that game using Floyd and the season is probably over

Wouldn't the top 4 seeds have Wednesday off? So that'd be a full 6 days rest if Skenes pitches Thursday against Georgia and then Thursday in Hoover.
Did you think the SEC tournament baseball bracket was like the basketball bracket?

So you’re saying Floyd isn’t good enough vs the 4, but he would be vs the 2?

In game 1 of SEC tournament you pitch Money or someone fully rested/upperclassman who hasn’t pitched much. We try to win but we don’t waste pitching, the regional is the next week.
This is not like CPM years where we needed to win it to get a national seed.

Honestly I don’t care who they pitch this year if they go 0-2 I would be fine.

This is probably a tBoat question, but when was the last time we went into Hoover with nothing on the line?
Last year we had 17 wins and maybe could have played our way into a host site, IIRC.

Skenes would throw Game 2 to stay on normal rest. You likely go a whole staff like Money, or Guidry or maybe Herring/Coleman.

Georgia is Thursday/Friday/Saturday, so your rotation looks like this: Skenes/#2 starter (Floyd)/#3 Starter.
But in the Regionals, you want it to look like this:
Friday: #3 starter vs. 4-seed, Saturday: Skenes vs. 2/3 winner, Sunday: Floyd to clinch it. So how do you get there playing Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday in Hoover? (assuming four wins).
My guess is:
Wednesday: mid-week starter vs. lower seed that probably burned their ace the previous night in a single elimination game.
Thursday: Skenes against another team with a bye that also probably saved its ace (one week since the last start, two extra days rest before the Regional start)
Saturday: Floyd (8 days since last start, 8 days until next start)
Sunday: #3 starter (8 days since last start, but risks short rest before Friday in the Regional), so you can always throw Johnny Wholestaff in the championship game if you want--the other team will be on their 4th pitcher as well. Why the best-hitting teams (usually us, Tennessee last year, etc.) usually win the championship game--most teams are completely out of quality pitching by then.

Opportunity to let some guys who haven't pitched much all year get some work.
I would rest Skenes and Floyd.
