Damn a 13mph diff from fb to change up will be deadly when he gets it all together.

Looks to have great potential, and that fastball looks to have some good run on it

Good risk/reward project!! He’s got the potential to be a great 1 or 1A pitcher for us.

Wicked curveball. Lots of movement, good get!

It looks like he got worse from 2020 to 2021. Don't know if that was as a result of an injury, or what, but in 2020 he was 21 with a 4.70 ERA. He appeared in 5 games, started 3, worked 15.1 IP, gave up 13 hits, walked 6 and struck out 17.
It looks like his control was better then.
He had none this year. In addition to the 30 walks in 35 innings he also hit 10 batters.
The strange thing here is USF had him mostly as a starting pitcher but all of his starts were short. 2 or 3 innings mostly. I don't know what kind of pitching philosophy they use over there, but it seems like it would be harder for a pitcher to settle into a groove and put up good numbers. Looking at their stats, this year other than one guy they had who was their ace, they did that with all their starting pitchers (and it didn't really work all that well).
The stuff is definitely electric. You can see it in the video. But he's Nuke Lalouche out there. We'll see what Kelly can do with him.

Didn't someone in here say he had Tommy JOhn?

I'm all for bringing guys like this in and hopefully he can develop. We just need to have a balance in our staff and not have 10 guys like this. As we have seen in our recent past, it's tough to develop these guys when you're trying to win games. It's not like minor leagues when they can go out and throw 75 pitches no matter how many runs they give up.
A big part of our pitching problems is having too many guys we need to develop and not enough that know how to pitch and can be depended on to throw strike without just grooving it down the middle to avoid walking a batter.

He had Tommy John last year after the Covid shut the season down. He was working back this year, hence the short outings. Likely the culprit of his control issues, too.

Reyzelman Shines in Series Finale vs. Hornets
SAN FRANCISCO — It has been a slow climb this season back to full strength for University of San Francisco baseball second-year freshman Eric Reyzelman.
Sunday, he may have shown everyone he's finally there.
Reyzelman struck out a career-high 11 against Sacramento State and pitched a season-long five innings as the Hornets clinched a non-conference series victory with a 4-0 win at Benedetti Diamond.
Reyzelman only had two outings in 2021 longer than two innings before Sunday. Working back from Tommy John surgery over the offseason had given him some setbacks from his brief but brilliant freshman season in 2020. He posted a near-3-to-1 strikeouts-to-walks ratio (17-6), had a 2-1 record, and had thrown a quality start in a big spotlight on the road at last year's Big West Conference favorite and perennial power Cal State Fullerton as his last hurrah of 2020, striking out eight against only one walk in six innings.
He entered Sunday with 22 walks against 20 strikeouts and an ERA north of 7.50 in 13 appearances this season, still trying to find that same 2020 mojo that earned him a weekend starting role.
He found it Sunday. Reyzelman struck out multiple batters in four of his five innings, and struck out six of the last seven batters he faced through the fourth and fifth innings. He issued two two-out walks in the first, one of which would come home to score on a Dawsen Bacho RBI single, and he gave up a solo home run to Sacramento State cleanup batter Matt Smith in the third, but outside of that, he was near flawless.

Gonna keep an eye on his Cape numbers to see if he keeps trending up.

Go YouTube him. He throws smoke. Needs some command work, but good arm and upside

He needs a nickname. That last name is too much.

This is completely logical. I’m not sure why people disagree with it. The same goes for a lineup, which was evident last year. We had several guys hit for .300 with power, but also had several games where those guys looked foolish and we were shut out because we didn’t have anyone that can pressure a pitcher to throw a strike. You have to have balance, and guys you can go to that can give you a chance, rather than a team full of “if he can put it together” type guys.
With that being said, I’m all for the high ceiling players and taking chances. We just need to make sure we have some guys we can rely on,

Damn, he's got some serious talent. Just control issues. That breaking ball looks like Hilliards...
No movement on the fastball but primo heat.

I'm getting a little turgid. I hope the staff can develop him and erase those walks without making him just serve up meatballs to avoid throwing balls.
This kid is the prototypical project guy you bring in. If you can't develop him, that sucks but you're likely going to at least get a midweek inning sponge out of him in that case and you need those kinds of guys on staff anyway. But, if you can develop him, you've got a "95 mph fastball, low to mid 80's changeup, vicious curveball, oh and he has a sick slider" throwing stud on your hands: you've got an out generating weekend starter machine.

Why should I be excited about a kid with 6.16 era.
You always get excited about a kid that can touch upper 90s.

Exactly. This kid is a power arm with a lot of potential
With any development, which happens to be a strong suit of the pitching coach, this guy could be a shut down weekend starter

Because LSU had one guy that could throw 96, not 10.
And he was hurt most of the year
