Anyone read the article about it in the daily reveille? It pretty much talked about the mixed feelings about it and how much of an increase the stadium has seen in piped in music. They spoke with Guy Gaster, the director of marketing for the athletic department.

"We play the music to help keep the atmosphere alive in the stadium.....The Tiger Band always takes priority when we are looking to keep the crowd involved..."

Somebody wrote a letter to the editor saying how "there is no respectable reason to switch to this absolutely terrible form of pumping up the crowd. The mystique of Death Valley is lost every time the band is pushed away for this terrible replacement"

Another student said, "No music piped in over the speakers will ever give me the chills like i get at the beginning of the fourth quarter when the band plays 'Pregame'"

Personally i do NOT like the piped in music at all. This is not professional football.

It's absolutely ridiculous.

Why did they decide to make this change? Who requested it? What purpose does it have? There certainly wasn't an outcry from the fans for piped in music.

It makes Tiger Stadium sound like a marginal stadium in the WAC, where people don't care about the game and have to be entertained by bad 1990's hip-hop.

The piped in music sucks. I hate it. I see the logic in using it maybe for when the band is out of their seats on the way to the field in the latter half of the 2nd qtr - but I still hate it.

It would be a lot cooler if the band played while it walked down to the field.

Except for the fact that TGBFTL was trying to play OVER the shite at some point in the 3rd quarter on Saturday.

This reads like a guy not familiar with Tiger Stadium who has come in and is trying to mix things up. If it's a local, he needs a beating.

Because LSU has tradition, and this isn't some stupid NFL team or Big East/Pac 10 team. I can understand the South Carolina song tradition they have at the beginning of the game, etc., and that it may be necessary right before halftime when the band is on the sidelines, but to give it first priority over your band in key situations of the game is ridiculous. It shouldn't be done in Tiger Stadium, and it shouldn't be done when you have one of the best bands in the nation with a fan base that loves it.

obviously people give a shite for them to write a damned article about it

the article also says how theyve seen favorable reactions from people when the songs are played but those are the people who probably never go but to one game a year if that, and most likely dont even know what the piped in music does for the feel of the stadium

whoever the jackass is with binoculars need to look towards the student section and see how we like it when they place "crazy train" or "hells bells"

that article cited 2 sources. I hardly give it any credibility what so ever. The piped in music is fine you douchebags. Did it ever occur to you that the band sometimes requests not to play? First priority goes to the band but if they sit on their asses, then the music comes in.

While we're at it, can we kill the Frank Wicks glorification announcements during the actual playing of "pre-game" during pre-game. The drum intro is critical to the song. Why are we subjected to the deification of Frank during the music?????????????

so you expect them to list every single person they've talked to that doesnt like the music? you expect the reveille to interview hundreds of people and list their responses? how many would it take to make it "credible"?
