If the team was thinking about anything at all on Sat I for damn sure hope they didn't have the mental energy to be concerned with what song was playing during the game. They should have been focussed on what their coaches were telling them and what they needed to do on the next series.

didnt read responses. anyone who uses tradition as an excuse to not like it is stupid. lets go back to no pads and no forward pass. lets turn into baseball. lets get rid of instant replay. a lot of people are against it just to be against it.
the onyl viable excuse i see is the one where you may enjoy TGBFTL more and be worried that over time there may be a decrease in the band playing music. however if the band isnt playing music or planning to play music when the music is piped in i really dont see teh complaint. unless u just dont like pop/rap music. but stfu cuz maybe some people dont like the bands music.

Another viable excuse is that it's an unneccesary addition that seems as if Tiger Stadium was missing something that venues like Auburn and Georgia had. It wasn't.

They play this type of stuff before the game. I don't think anyone is complaining about music being played before kickoff. The complaint is the new desire to play piped in classic rock at kick off and near the end of timeouts to try and "pump up" the crowd.

If they don't like the traditional band songs that represent LSU, then maybe they should find something else to do.

I'm not against the music "just to be against it". I'm in my 30's and would like to think that I'm just a little bit more mature than that.
I love music. I play drums and have played music for longer than some of you commenting here have been alive. Music is (one of my) passions. But listening to some over-played, overly-cliche stadium music just "does not do it" for me and most probably the majority of the stadium crowd.
There's a real easy solution to this thing. During the spring semester, have a few voting tables set up in the quad and let the students vote on it. I bet you about 75% are against the music.

it probably depends what is played and when

Everyone is acting like we dont have a band. Nobody is taking anything away from the band-get that straight. The music is only played when nothing else is going on but the other team cheering.

i agree...for the most part people either hate it or dont even notice it is there

I'm talking LSU's song catalog, not their covers.
Even still, I'd think most fans at a COLLEGE game would prefer to hear the band's version of a pop songs than the actual one being pumped into the stadium while the band sits on their asses.
Let the NFL, and stadiums that NEED to pump in music to be loud do this.
I overheard a few Ole Miss fans walking down to get some drinks during a TO at the game say something to the effect, "Holy shite...like the stadium isn't loud enough without that!"
LSU is LSU. Tiger Stadium has never NEEDED music being played during the game to keep the fans interested and I'd think it doesn't now. I'm not a big fan of imitating other SEC venues when what we're suppossed to have is the best of the bunch already.

for me its not about the band being pushed out...its about giving the stadium a cheap, unauthentic, professional feel

The vote would read like this, "Music to be played during the game during tv timeouts in periods that the marching band isn't playing or when GBFTL is entering the field for halftime."
Vote yes or no.
Vote yes or no.

False. At least once on Saturday the band was trying to play WHILE that shite was being pumped in. It was pathetic.

yea, i was confused when that happened.
Posted on 11/24/08 at 3:47 pm to GeauxTigerTM
so it happened once. big deal. Of all the times the band plays, you remember it happening ONCE. If this was a recurring theme then i would agree with you.

What's pathetic is that the operator in the booth feels the need to hurry up and crank up the music not one nanosecond after the band plays. As if 30 or seconds of hearing the Ole Miss band or them chanting Hotty Toddy was going to kill us. If anything that only adds to the whole environment.

another thing i cant stand is they play that shite until the LAST SECOND before kickoffs and punts and field goals

So I take it you're the guy operating the piped in music then, right? You seem to be taking this awfully personally...

correct me if I'm wrong, but at one time didn't the BAND play right then? Didn;t the band used to play Tiger Rag (I think) and then hold the note through the change of possesion and then finish the song right as the ball was being kicked? Anyone else remember that?
Admittedly, I think it's been a while.
