Look - if I had my preference, I'd rather see Nussmeier start. That said, I can still see a lot of reasons to be excited for JD to come back next year. Comparatively, I see a lot of hate for JD from the tard brigade... and I don't get it.

Interesting. But, Ensminger held Burrow back. Joe Brady set him free

Of course - based on the stats, QB1 had the better season. Now I am pretty sure that is not from TB's first season as an LSU Tiger.... .

The other two comparable are both from a QBs first season at LSU, with similar schedules... But I think we'd all have to admit that Joe's first season he had more talent around him... I mean, we didn't start that season with 39 scholarship players on the roster.

Without highs/lows this is flawed. Football games are discrete events.

When can it be predicted then? After 50 starts, 60 starts? I think you have a pretty good idea of what you have after 40 starts.

I just see a dude that had a better year than Joe did in his first season

How many collegiate starts did Joe have when he got to LSU? Yea, zero.

Who would you expect to have a better year a QB with 40+ starts or a QB with 0 starts?

Btw, there’s really not a substantial difference between those stat lines. JD has a better completion percentage because he rarely throws the ball more than 15 yards down the field.

So you’re left with a QB that has no experience as a starting QB performing at the same level of a QB that has 40 starts. Who do you think has more upside? Who would you start the following season?

You think JD would’ve done as well as Joe under Ensminger and Coach O in 2018?

Pick a QB. Both first year starters at their current school. Both coming from seemingly bad situations.

Passing 2774 68.5% 16 TDs 3 INT
Rushing 180 attempts 818 yards 4.5 per 11 TDs
Sacked 43 times holy shite!

Passing 3388 yards 71.5% 27 TDs 6 INT
Rushing 86 attempts 540 yards 6.3 per 14 TDs...
Sacked 4 times

Serious question, are both QB's equal in experience? I ask because it makes a huge difference. If QB A is in his 1st season as a starter and QB B is in his 4th season as a starter, I'd take QB A every time. QB A looks as if he started off barely below where QB B has taken years of playing to get.

We need more details. If everything is equal, you could take QB B if it's strictly stats.

this only make sense if you don't think coaching matters.

theres no reason one 23 year old qb with a dad that was a coach has a vastly higher ceiling than another 23 year old qb just because he has started more games.

we see QBs vastly improve with coaching changes all the time. Look at Jalen Hurts THIS YEAR and he has been playing a lot longer than Jayden Daniels.

Other good examples are Jared Goff and Geno Smith this year compared to their previous NFL stops. There's a lot more that goes into a QBs ability to improve than how many games they have played.

Tom Brady wasn’t really a good college qb and struggled keeping his job. He was a 6th round draft pick. Even in the NFL, didn’t play his first year. Got the job his second year, 24 years old, cause of injury, and was a game manager.

Before he turned 30 he threw for over 250 ypg once, and was usually well below that. I don’t know what the frick got into him after that.

I’m picking Burrow’s stat line’s because I know which QB has the better pre and post snap reads, better processing skills, quicker decision making abilities, better overall understanding of every aspect of playing QB, throws on time and is more accurate with deep balls. You see it’s not even close who the better QB is and those numbers are similar and yet the offense Burrow was in his first year at LSU isn’t even as good as what Daniels is in. So, trying to compare the 2 is not apples to apples. Asking that question when both have played in the same system is a way more objective question and answer.

If Boutte played with a QB like Burrow there no way he’s coming back next year because he is a sure fire top 5 pick like Chase. Nabers and BTJ could also be first rounders. They would have resembled Chase, Jefferson, and Marshall with Burrow.

Interesting you call them “takes” when everything I said is 100% facts. Says a lot about you.

So which of my “takes” exactly do you think are bad? He was famously in qb battle in college and struggled keeping his job. His college numbers weren’t anything special. He was drafted in 6th round.

He didn’t play first year. Got job at 24 years old because Bledsoe got injured and was game manager on team with amazing defense. His passing ypg before turning 30,189, 235, 226, 230, 257, 220. So only once above 250 like I said.

His completion percentages weren’t anything great in those years. Only that first year as game manager was he top 5. Then 07 happened and he started slinging it like all the other best passers.

All of these things are facts. So again, I really, really want to hear which of these facts you think is a bad “take”.
