More than likely because Archie was Ole Miss born and bred & Lsu stunk in the 90s. He also probably figured that by attending UT he would be more independent from his father.

Peyton went to Tennessee because of David Cutcliffe--the same reason Eli went to Ole Miss. If the Mannings had another younger brother who played QB he would probably go to Duke.

Peyton went to the school that offered him the best opportunity at the time for his football career, Eli went to the school where his father played. It's pretty simple....
Perhaps, but another explanation is that both Peyton and Eli had the same coach overseeing their college careers, David Cutcliffe. If Ole Miss hadn't hired Cutcliffe, presumably at Archie's strong suggestion, Eli might have ended up elsewhere, probably at Tennessee under Cutcliffe.

Peyton and Eli both wanted to be coached by Cutcliff who was he QB coach at both schools.

I enjoyed his comment about ODB Jr. being the best receiver to come out of Neuman since Cooper.
He was speaking the truth

Now with the college choices, would you ever want your son to play for one your college's rivals?
Absolutely I would. A "rival" is supposed to be pretty good, right? I'd like for my son to play for my alma mater but if that didn't work out I would have no problem at all with him playing for another damn strong football team.

ok one more time ....josh booty was the highest rated quarterback coming out of high school that year. manning had offers from everyone and lsu and tenesee were his two finalists .booty committed to lsu therefore manning went to tenesee. booty fricked lsu that year and went on to play baseball
Wow. You are really misinformed. Peyton was never coming to LSU, regardless of what Booty did.

If someone is old enough to read this board it's not going to be the first time they've seen or heard a bad word

Peyton didn't because of a guy named John Booty. He was rated higher than Manning out of Evangel.
Eli was a mama's boy, so he went to Ole Piss. I still love watching him trip on that 4th down play at Ole Miss in 03.

In the user settings, there is a setting to filter out profanity. Parents need to monitor what their kids are doing online if they have a problem with profanity. Class and maturity doesn't exist on college sports message boards.

I am still enjoying this thread, however.
