Question for Perkins will be how well and quickly he recovers for combine. If he recovers enough and teams can get a read on his timeline, he still may go late first round.

Doubtful if he was healthy he would go first round. What position would he play in the nfl? Hes horrible as an inside backer. Hes no nickel back and to small to play the edge.

With him out, is there really anyone on defense they’re scheming around?

It'll be interesting to see if Swinson can keep up his production without Perkins on the field

I’m sorry but Perkins hasn’t done near enough at LSU to justify being anywhere close to a 1st rd pick. Maybe 4th rd.

He really should be coming back but I know he won’t.

Yeah that's what I've been wondering myself. Even if he was healthy and was named all everything this season, he still has no position in the NFL. Usually you'll see tweener DE/OLB guys. Now they just call them Edge. Perkins might be the first tweener Safety/Edge that I've seen.

I've seen people talk about Perkins being used like Micah Parsons was. Just line him all over the place and let him rush the passer. Parsons was 6'3", 246 lbs at the combine. He had a proven track record playing LB at Penn State. He had the size, strength, and length to beat NFL O linemen. I just don't see Perkins being able to do that consistently. Hell they couldn't figure out how to make it work in college consistently.

So what do you do with an Edge rusher trapped in a Safety's body? We'll see. This is just a shame. I hope Perk has a speedy recovery and I hope he ends up with a creative DC who can get the most out of him on Sundays.

I wish him well.

His camp never allowed him to fully flourish at LSU.

Next man up.

Sucks for Perkins.

I wish they would've just stuck with where they played him last yr and blitzed him every chance they got.

If his last 8 games went like his first 4, his absolute ceiling is 5th round. In reality an injury changes nothing to his stock. It was already in free fall

He had a few great games as a freshman passing down specialist when he was a free rusher. The rest of his 1.5 seasons are exceptionally average film and mediocre attitude. You get hands on him he's neutralized - a horrible feature of anyone with NFL aspirations at edge/LB

Coupled with not having a natural position, he can at least rest easy knowing the injury isn't making a difference

While some of this is true, he will go way before the 5th round. You can't teach what he does as a pass rusher/pursuer.
