Was awesome, but it begs the question: WHY THE HELL DOES HOUSE CONTINUE DROPPING AN AMAZING EDGE RUSHER INTO COVERAGE!?!?

Because the player has asked to play off ball lb, since thats his likely position in the NFL. Hes too small to play EDGE at the next level.

Perkins looks a step slow off the edge this season. Granted, teams now game plan for him. I would like to see him lined up in different places to rush the passer. But yes, playing him in coverage keeps your best defensive athlete on the field every down.

Because he is a LB and that's what LBs do?

Because he is 220lbs and is constantly tasked with taking on 330lb offensive tackles.

The dude is a playmaker, not just an edge rusher. QUIT SHOEHORNING HIM INTO A DEFENSIVE END.

He needs to roam. DID YOU NOTICE HE SHUTDOWN LUTHER BURDEN IN THE SECOND HALF????????

1) you’re pointing out a play where he had an INT like it’s a bad thing.
2) teams have chipped him, rolled away from him and generally game planned against him to make him less effective. So they try to counter by moving him around. Mizzou was killing us in the middle of the field so the coaches had him drop deeper than usual to get under the crossing routes.

There’s your reasons for all your downvotes….

Well, you basically said he did well in coverage and then said I can't believe they are playing him in coverage so yeah, you're an idiot.

Unfortunately real life college football isn't like Madden. You don't just blitz your LB every play.

Not on every play, but Perkins needs to be rushing the QB on passing downs every single time. Whether that requires going with a 5 man rush, or 3 D-Lineman (which Aranda did a lot), or dime coverage, it needs to happen.

One thing that should not happen is for him to be on a WR in the slot, which he was a lot on Saturday. They tried it once (that I noticed) with him blitzing from there and as a one off that's fine, but not as a standard defensive alignment.

Have you watched him rushing this season? Other teams know who he is and take advantage of his weaknesses now, which has resulted in him rushing upfield past the QB multiple times this season, more than once resulting in an open lane for the QB to run.

By using him at SAM/Nickel he be sent on a blitz, fill run lanes, provide outside contain, spy the QB, or fall back in coverage. That way he can actually fill a role on the defense.

Hes not an edge rusher. Hes an athletic specimen who happens to be a very gifted rusher but does not have the size to actually be an every down pass rusher.
