I don't know how old you are, but I remember a time when those same schools could have said the same thing about the SEC.

State, Ole Miss, LSU and the others have had their ups a and downs; however, they have always been in a class above FCS teams and that’s not debatable.

Not to burst anybody's bubble but the SWAC has been playing SEC schools for a few years now.

So what?
They should never have started playing any FCS teams.

I mean P5 should only play P5

But these games are happening, and if they’re going to happen then there’s no reason NOT to play Southern. By default it will generate more interest than any other fcs team we could play.

If that is true I will be changing my mind on Woodward very quickly. There is no reason for these two teams to play. It is a bad idea from a strength of schedule/quality win perspective for LSU. It will be dangerous for Southern's players. There will be 0 fan interest in a glorified scrimmage.

you don’t watch much CFB do ya? every team has a rent a win game every single year. we’d be at a disadvantage if we didn’t have one as well

ETA: it's one thing to not like Power 5 teams playing against FCS teams, but that's not on LSU - your problem would be with the NCAA. Alabama is playing Austin Peay that year, so if we don't play that level of a team, then Alabama now has it easier thus putting us at a disadvantage like I said originally.

. What’s the difference between Southern and Southeastern.

Again, what's not debatable is you knowing the history of these sames schools you claim the SEC have ALWAYS been a class above. Do you know at one time GRAMBLING had more players in the NFL than LSU or State or Ole Miss???

No, Alabama doesn't play Alabama A&M. Or Troy. Or South Alabama. Or any other school in the state of Alabama. Heck, they wouldn't play Auburn if they didn't have to.

Yes. And LSU didn't play Grambling then either. (though for illegitimate reasons).

What does this have to do with anything? The game is happening.

Also, do you know how much season tickets cost? How much the TAF donation is? Why would I want to pay to watch LSU disembody Southern? There is nothing fun about it.

Because you watched them do it to Northwestern State last year? And Southeastern the year before? UT Chattanooga the year before that, and Jacksonville State in 2016.

And you'll pay it to see them "disembody" McNeese next year.

Are you able to identify the trend here?

My point is Miss. State has PLAYED Jackson State, Florida has PLAYED Florida A&M, South Carolina has PLAYED South Carolina State. Again LSU playing Southern goes BEYOND just a football game. Why is this so hard to comprehend?????

LSU can rent a win without playing an FCS team. There are dozens if not hundreds of G5 and lower P5 teams that could be scheduled.

Yes. LSU's previous Athletic Administration scheduled some bullshite home games.

I hoped LSU's new Athletic Administration would do more to improve the home game experience, like scheduling better games.

None of you people thrilled that LSU is playing Southern can complain that the stadium is half empty by half time, the atmosphere is dead, and that the students dont show up.

Not hard to comprehend at all. It's as much a goodwill gesture as anything, the same way LSU gives their used baseball equipment to Southern and plays them in baseball. The game will also draw a few mentions on college football shows.

Doesn't matter much to me, but you pointed out Alabama as playing an in-state HBCU team, when they refuse to play any team from Alabama.

But Grambling was always in a lower class of football.

Thats fair, but hell... it happens during SEC games too.

It isn't so much a competition thing, its an inability of LSU and the city to find a transportation plan that isn't completely fricked.

If you knew you could be on I-10 within 30 minutes of the end of the game, I guarantee you many, many more people will stay, especially night games. The current prospect of it taking 3 hours to get to Lafayette or the north shore after a 7pm game is a massive deterrent, much more than any opponent is.
