I would love to attend this game especially if Southern brings their band...and there is a glorified scrimmage every fricking year...this one at least may bring a great halftime show...

I think there are many more reasons not to schedule this game.

Well start naming your many more reasons and we can go from there. Because from where I sit, why should Louisiana be last in every damn thing? It's ok for Miss. State to play Jackson State, Alabama to play Alabama A&M, Florida to play Florida A&M, but God forbid, LSU play Southern in your opinion?

So I'll be waiting to you to make your point and I will offer a counterpoint. You're now on the clock.

Seems like it has potential to generate more profit than the usual FCS games. They bring a lot of fans so more tickets will be sold and Woodward should low ball them since they are traveling across Baton Rouge for the game. I don't go to the FCS games so the home and home with Utah was more underwhelming to me.

Please see my first post. Dangerous for southern. No benefit to LSU.

If that is true I will be changing my mind on Woodward very quickly. There is no reason for these two teams to play. It is a bad idea from a strength of schedule/quality win perspective for LSU. It will be dangerous for Southern's players.

What the frick?

So. it's better if we play Nichols St or something?

And the Rutgers player was paralyzed against Army. Your story is nothing more than an anecdote with no statistical backing.

Counterpoint: The benefit is a chance to show community togetherness. Bringing a city together. Coach O is playing Chess, while you are playing checkers.

None of those games should be played.

Those schools are not in the the same class as SEC teams are. It’s not fair to the fans or the players.

It was an off ball, weird contact with the kicker on a kickoff. It was a freak play, not caused by any talent disparity

So still you

While I disagree with it, literally half the city just voted to annex itself from the other half. A football game wherein significantly better athletes with significantly better resources pounding the ever-loving shite out of inferior athletes does not sound like a kumbaya opportunity to me.

Everyone in favor of this game takes the position that LSU plays FCS opponents anyway, so why not play Southern. My response is that LSU should not play FCS opponents.

Yeah, but let's just say there is another team in LSU's division that is virtually guaranteed a better shot at the SEC championship game every year because it plays Tennessee while LSU plays Florida. Let's call that team Alabama

Alabama plays FCS Austin Peay in 2022
Georgia plays FCS Samford in 2022
Clemson plays FCS Furman in 2022

I could go on, but you get my point. Nobody is going to care if our shitty exhibition game is a little more shitty than the other playoff contenders shitty exhibition game. It's all about how you do against the top of the schedule, not the bottom

And if you would have presented that as your argument, most would have agreed

You went the player safety and mulligan route instead

I agree, I don't think any P5 team should play FCS. However, as long as it's allowed, and all of our direct competitors for the playoffs are doing it, no reason we shouldn't take a week off like everybody else. And if we have to dole out 500k+ to some crap school to play, might as well be to the local team rather than one 1000 miles away

Not to burst anybody's bubble but the SWAC has been playing SEC schools for a few years now.

I don't know how old you are, but I remember a time when those same schools could have said the same thing about the SEC.

Georgia played them a few years ago and it didn’t hurt them.

And if you don’t think there will more interest in this than some of the random arse teams we’ve played over the year then I don’t k ow what to tell you other than you don’t know what you’re talking about.
