Wow!! The CWS was so hard to watch? Our team came out of the losers bracket and had to beat team TWICE that had only lost 4 games all year!! That was hard to watch???
Truly dumb!!!!
This dude clearly didn't watch a lick of LSU baseball all season. He heard his buddies talking about LSU playing Florida in the finals of the CWS, so he dug out his LSU apparel and threw it on, and began talking about how big of an LSU baseball fan he was. He watched the games Monday and Tuesday and was pissed off with what he saw, so he came to shite on what a great team accomplished.

Look, I don't like CPM and think this program deserves better. The CWS was so hard to watch and it was crystal clear that he was out coached in most games.
There comes a point in every argument where you just realize there is no point in continuing the conversation.. somehow, I missed this gem. What a fricking idiot

You're really not on your best game today Ell.

"Could" means: he could come out of the pen if we didn't need the if necessary game.

I do not agree with taking Hess out of the bullpen. This guy could be your ULTIMATE closer. We saw he could only go a few innings and to try and turn him into a starter would be idiotic. Same thing with bringing Watson into the infield. You could argue there was not a better CF in the country..why change that! Keep Hess as Closer and Watson as CF

Man, that's rough. I hope he makes a full recovery. The guy played great for the Tigers this year and was an integral part of the success they had. Hopefully he has many more days on the mound ahead in his future.

Ask ANYBODY who has a clue what they are talking about (clearly you don't). They will tell you that this injury started to take place probably somewhere before the CWS. This wasn't a broken bone that is going to heal itself over time by resting it. He could have not touched a baseball in the CWS and he could have rested all summer. Whenever he picked up a ball and started throwing in the fall, there is a 99% chance that he begins to have the same complications that he had in the CWS. Rest does not fix ligaments.

Yikes. The guy clearly has the best stuff on the team. We're going to kick the tires on him as a starter. You don't just leave him in the pen because he was great in a closer's role. You try to get as many innings out of him as humanly possible because he's your best overall pitcher. Especially now that we won't have Walker to lean on.

Damn, this is bad news for Eric and the team. Prayers sent for a full recovery.

There should be a stickied FAQ at the top today.
Q: What causes UCL injuries?
A: The cause or causes have not been determined with certainty yet. Theories are:
overwork as youth (just too many pitches)
playing baseball year round travel team instead of having an offseason (a different flavor of overwork)
higher velocity of today's pitchers
use of certain pitches
improper mechanics of some sort
exact pitch counts/inning counts causing young pitchers to go max effort knowing they have a hard ceiling of when they are coming out
and a dozen other theories
Q: Did Paul Mainieri cause this?
A: No.
Q: Would Walker missing an extra start here or there have made a difference on this injury?
A: Unlikely. UCL tears are repetitive stress injuries. Small pockets of rest during a season are unlikely to prevent these types of injuries.
Q: Did his arm look tired?
A: Apparently. On May 29, 2017, intrepid poster AtlantaLSUfan declared that Walker's arm looks tired after a game where Walker threw 7.2 innings of one run baseball. AtlantaLSUfan believes skipping a start in the regional would have prevented this injury.
Q: Seriously? Skipping one start would have prevented his injury?
A: No. That is horseshite. In fact, Walker was hurt in a simulated game he threw after the Super Regional weekend where he did not get a start.

That's kind of like letting Joe Montana only be the QB for the two minute drill

You do realize that in order to even get your closer into the game you need to have starting pitchers who can get you to that point, with the game within striking distance.
Would you rather have Hess pitching 6-7 innings every Friday, knowing that you have a really good chance of getting the win?
Or would you rather him in a closer role, and MAYBE pitch two or three innings on the weekend if your starters can hold the other team off and give you a chance to win?

your best pitcher isn't your closer
Not at any level of baseball, ever

Is this the same dude that started a thread blasting CPM because Walker threw a simulated game before the start of the CWS?

Well, except at the end of this year for LSU
Walker was hurt. Poche is good. Lange was great. But Hess was pitching like he was our best pitcher at the end of the season (for an inning at a time at least).
(For the retards, I'm not saying that Hess should have been a starter in the CWS. Nor am I saying that CPM is a idiot for having Hess as the closer)
