What's the point of getting him reps with the 2nd team anyway? If we're forced to burn his redshirt he's gonna be playing with the 1st team. This sounds like some dumb shite Culotta made up

The point is to speed up his development…maybe for this year…maybe for next.

I think the staff knows Nussmeier won’t be here next year.

The sad thing is that after Saturday, no one would care if Nuss transferred. The other sad thing is that there probably isn’t anyone out there interested

Exactly. If Nuss becomes #1 due to injury, then Howard will be #2. Like one of the coaches told Culotta that crap.

If Nuss is not ready now he never will be. Poor decision making. Once shame on you but twice in a game shame on relying on him as your backup quarterback.

He's a redshirt freshman...A little early to consider him a bust.
Nuss just threw 2 interceptions, one a Pick 6, against a SWAC team. I think it's fair to bump him down the depth chart. #2 isn't going to play much as long as Daniels is the starter, but I'd rather see us start grooming our 5 Star QB now, than keep giving reps to a guy who wasn't comfortable and competent against that level of mismatch.

I’m don’t think this is good but also don’t think he will be here 5 years.

I am so tired of everybody's redshirt argument. The only reason a QB at a big school would be at one place for four years is if he didn't start until his 3rd year or hasn't performed well enough in his 2nd and 3rd years.

Howard is the starter next year anyway.

That’s fine if Howard is better right now. I’m just saying we shouldn’t totally write Nuss off for the rest of his career because of how he’s played in such limited action as a freshman/RS freshman.

Why the frick wouldn't Walker get reps already? He can play in 4 games and still redshirt. His redshirt isn't effected by practice

Because the second team reps go to the backup QB so he can be ready if he needs to be. If walker is passing Nuss on the depth chart then he will take those reps so he can be ready

You'd have to be a fricking moron to burn his RS in case Jayden gets hurt. Logically this is poor even for a shitty journalist

Why? If he’s really that good he won’t be here for 5 years anyways

Those 2 int's were so insanely stoooopid. I mean cheerleaders know you don't throw that. Every player on the team should be sticking their foot up his a$$. Leave Howard be unless injuries force otherwise

I like Jordy’s show, but he doesn’t have access to this kind of info even if it were true. The days of Ponamsky blabbering to the public about the inner workings of the program are over.

Quit being stupid. Howard will still redshirt...he'd simply be taking reps from Nuss in practice. And yes, injuries would force his play, but so what? He's the future and not gonna pass on pt.
Hes practicing anyway, he'd just move up to the 2's.
I've said this and I'll say again for the 100th time. Howard is a beast and would NOT pass on or just for a damn redshirt..hes a team player....unlike like Nuss passing on the bowl game

It's very possible that Howard doesn't start until his 3rd year. You have no idea if Walker is going to perform well enough in his 2 years to be a high round draft pick. Why do you act like any of that is a given?

the coaching staff went from considering him a potential starter to 3rd string after half of a game? Do y’all really believe the coaches are that irrational?

They knew he wasn't starting very early in summer. After Brennan left, they had to put and a show to keep him on roster and have warm bodies back there.
Howard was known to be better talent all along

Where was Nuss going to go after Brennan left? He couldn't play this year. That makes no sense.

Thank you! And everyone assumes Jayden is gone after this year. I agree it's likely, but not a given. It is one of deepest QB drafts in history. He could come back another year. If he does and keeps playing like he is currently playing, Walker likely doesn't start until his 3rd season.

It's harder for him to transfer once classes and season starts. Nuss absolutely leaves if daniels named starter in early August
Of.course that makes sense. If you leave earlier, you get to practice earlier with new team BEFORE season.
It's gonna happen either way. You surely don't think Howard would sit behind Jaden for 2 years, then Nuss for 2?
Whos better? You HAVE to start these leaks at some point and get the less talented of the 2 ready to transfer out.
