If you ever heard Jamie Howard give interviews about Walker, he didn’t want Walker playing as a freshman, especially after Jamie threw all those pick 6s vs Auburn his freshman year. He got a lot of shite from that and he doesn’t want Walker to go through something like that just first year in college.

That happened Jamie's junior year.

You are correct, I was thinking about his first game he played was at Auburn his freshman year.

And he very may well be. You know how many QBs who signed with LSU out of high school have left early to go pro? One. Jamarcus Russell. That’s it.

2 more games to play in and save it for the bowl game unless we lose to M State and/or AU.

NO way are we sniffing playoff contention this season. The closest we get will be turning on the TV to watch the conference championship games.

His red shirt might not matter. He could leave after a big true JR year or redshirt soph year. Only way the RS matters is if he is going to be a red shirt senior

True. He may need 4-5 years to get it. He may be ready now. You never know. Give him as much time as you can.

Ironically he played a fantastic game, too. Auburn led 27-7 going into the 4th. Chad Loup,Jesse Daigle,Jr and Ryan Huffman were benched. Howard comes in and we go up 28-27 with at a minute left. Curley and Mike Bugar's prevent defense allowed Auburn to win 30-28 with about :04 left.

It’s Howard’s team next year regardless. Daniels will go pro after this year and nuss won’t beat Howard out

So now that starting QB controversy is solved we moved down the latter to backup QB controversy.

May be true

LSU was going to talk with Jamie Howard about getting Walker Howard some reps with the 2nd team even though they all agreed for Walker to be redshirted this year

Is complete bullshite

You don't need Jaime Howard's permission for his son to get 2nd team reps in practice and Brian Kelly definitely doesn't need his permission

If he went from being quarterback 1B to 3rd string getting basically no game reps after 2 quarters of game time, then I'm more worried about what the coaches have been looking at in practice.

It's not unheard of for young players to look better in practice than in a live game. Sometimes they work through it. Sometimes they don't

So, the coaching staff went from considering him a potential starter to 3rd string after half of a game? Do y’all really believe the coaches are that irrational?

Well, that's one way to look at it. It could also be that Howard was slotted at #3, because Nuss was a somewhat better AND it made sense to save Howards redshirt. Now after two more weeks of practice and live game action, Howard is closing the gap enough to be considered #2 and is going to be given some reps to see if its warranted.

Its a young team in a rebuilding season. If the coaches were not exploring all options as we move forward, THAT would be irrational.

Or Culotta is full of shite and this entire thread is a waste of bandwidth.

I'd be absolutely fine with Walker getting his 4 bodybag games worth of reps and keeping his redshirt.

Yeah but let him actually play. I really don’t understand putting RS designated QBs in games where they only hand the ball off at the end of a beat down.

Now do how many QB's LSU signed out of high school who started as a RS Senior. Hint: Brennan would've been the first. And he (or anyone else) would've bolted after his RS Sophomore season if he were good enough.

The days of a 4-5 star QB sitting on one roster for five years are over unless its very unusual circumstances.

I understand.
There is a lot to say for letting a player get out on the field, under the lights with real hitting going on and experiencing the time limitations involves in progressing play by play. Getting hit a few times helps.
Unless you have never played football, particularly with the ball in your hands every play, you will not understand the importance of getting in the game, actually going thru a few snaps and getting the butterflies out of your stomach.

Here is the deal Nuss should've left and we should have had Daniels, Brennan and Walker this season. The moment that Nuss didn't play in the bowl game to save eligibility I felt he had no allegiance to the school. We win vs. K-St if he plays.

Brennan is the option if Daniels gets hurt and Walker redshirts this season as planned.

Daniels starts again for us next year and Walker plays a ton. Walker lined up to start his sophomore and junior years after having two years with the program under his belt.

I agree, but the Southern game was unusual. Kelly also had to get Nuss some game action to assess him as well as have him prepared to play if Daniels goes down. Tough call to allocate playing time. I do wish he would've gone to Howard a little sooner and I think he will against NM State.
