Statue is definitely warranted as a part of the expansion.

He was the coach when I went to my 1st LSU game. He broke a lot of hearts when he left after 1961. But, he came back home and was a credit to his community, his country and family. Prayers sent. RIP

Had the honor and privilege to meet this great Tiger Coach 8 or so years ago. A huge impact on LSU football and my life through that. He was loved by everyone who's life he touched and will be missed but never forgotten.

What a journey thru life he had.

My prayers to the family of this great man.

Great pic. Cannon, Robinson, Broadnax, Coach Dietzel, and Rabb.

My family had just moved back to La before the '58 season, and my Dad started bringing his boys to the games. Wow, what an introduction to LSU Tigers football. Dad had played in the band and loved him some Tigers. Thanks Dad.

Three team system was revolutionary, and the Chinese Bandits were the crowd favorites. I guess because they were really just hard playing third stringers. Gang tacklers personified.

It broke my heart when he decided to leave for his " dream job" at Army. Always wondered what would have happened had he stayed. Nevertheless, thanks Coach for what you did for my school. Many Good Times. RIP.

Very sad........would always see him at the Gridiron Club's Friday luncheon with Les. Extremely disappointed I never took the opportunity to shake his hand.

I hope we put a sticker on our uniforms in his honor for the rest of the season.

Affectionately called sometimes as "Pepsident Paul"
because of his big smile that may have also derived from the popular toothpaste during that era.

RIP coach.
