re: Found: wreck of Yamato sister ship Musashi

My uncle was serving on the USS Kalinin Bay CVE-68, in Battle off Samar. Starting about 0700 they took about an aggregate of 15 direct hits from 16",14" and about 10 8" shells. Also took 2 hits from kamakazes (the first of the war). He was one of about 60 wounded. They luckily had only five fatalities. He didn't talk about those years except once at a fireworks show he told his son that you had not seen anything like the shells from the IJN. They used to shoot in colors to identify their different ships. Also said the escort carriers (CVE's) were built by Kaiser Shipyards in Bremerton, Washington. He said that the IJN high velocity shells in most cases went completely thru the US ships,
As an aside he later worked for Kaiser Aluminium in Baton Rouge, Chalmette, and Gramercy as well as in Gahana, and Wales. He passed a about a year ago at age 88. He and his brother (my dad) they were a special kind.

re: How bad were the refs? For those that watched on tv

They were the oldest collection of officials I've seen in the SEC. I mean with the exception of the Referee those guys are all on Social Security.
Maybe they pulled seniority to get to do that game in a known "big game" atmosphere.

As mentioned by Iona Tiger:
Jack Ruby shooting Lee Harvey Oswald
Challenger
"Morganza the kissing bandit" chasing Pete Rose around the field.

OK
(1) Who is the bag lady that's been in some of the most interesting plot twist? She's been at the dumpster in several episodes.
(2)Was she the supposed dead mother that was killed when the 18 wheeler accident killed Jax's dad? She was in the park when Tara got her hand messed up.
(3) Does she find Juice's clean up of the murder scene?
(4) Did Clay and Gemma think that she was killed with John Teller in the accident?
(5) Could she be the real mother of Jax, and the young girl who broke the sweet shop's window (Jax's half sister)?

Minter without a doubt. He would not have allowed teams to attack the middle.
Eric Reid close 2nd, ball skills and leadership.

What color do they use for the times Bama was on NCAA probation, and bowl banned? Didn't Bear and Wally Butts of Georgia get accused of fixing games?

Woodrow. He didn't do right by Newt, but he and Gus hung old Jake real quick.

Had the same problem a few weeks ago. Took it to my local gun shop, and it cycled fine in the back of the shop . The gunsmith asked me if I was shooting "cheap" steel shells. I was and he recommended some Rio brand. Got them and it works fine.

He was the coach when I went to my 1st LSU game. He broke a lot of hearts when he left after 1961. But, he came back home and was a credit to his community, his country and family. Prayers sent. RIP

Does anyone here remember Jamie Howard throwing 3 pick 6's with a 21 point lead? If that would have happened last night there would be a line at the Miss. River bridge. Teams that are behind are going to go all out to win. Just need to stop them.
re: The reason I think the play calling was what it was last night after half time.
Posted by Rock O Gbralta on 9/22/13 at 8:16 pm to dreaux
The running game missed Turner. It was not the same in the 2nd half. The fumble in the red-zone left points off the board as well as the fake field goal. Overall, it's like the old ball coach used to say "if you don't like it stop it". 14 point win against an underrated Auburn team is done. Correct the mistakes and buckle up for next week.

I never thought there would be "piped-in-music" in Tiger Stadium. I'm in my 60's so what does and old person know?
