Pitching was just as bad. We were outmatched by a better team today

Not better, more like shite happens. You can't win everything.

So you are saying a team that probably won’t even make the tournament is an overall better team than the #1 team in the country with 3 or 4 potential 1st rd draft picks??

You had better hope Iowa isn't the better team or it's going to be a long season. There are way better teams than Iowa in the SEC.

I’d bet my paycheck no one in here has ever been in the box against a 100mph fastball. Then Blue calls that 100mph that almost hits you a strike. Yeah…good luck getting a hit.

That's just it...there's not necessarily a "problem". We got our butts handed to us by a pitcher with great stuff.

Gonna be a lot pitchers with great stuff when they hit SEC play! Just sayin!

Yes we swung a bit too much at pitches outside the zone, but there's not necessarily a huge problem when we lost 1 game. If you think 1 game defines a season in baseball, you're crazy. The 2009 LSU cws team lost 2 out of 3 at home against a sub. 500 Tennessee team...that's truly just baseball

I despise the “that’s just baseball” responses. I didn’t watch the game so I’m genuinely asking:

Were there fundamental mistakes made in terms of technique at the plate, on the mound, or in the field?
Was the strategy simply incorrect and resulted in poor results?
Were balls hit well, just to people?

Exactly…LSU didn’t belong on the same field with that Iowa team today…

LSU has finally faced 2 real pitchers and gotten….1 run off them combined. I’m not talking who the ER is assigned to, I’m talking scores the run on them while they are pitching which to me means more

The problem is that’s baseball you dolt. The best teams ever lose games and sometimes badly.

It’s not the best team that wins it is the team that plays the best that day. We are not going to win every game. Almost everyone in the top ten has lost. We will lose more as well. What I am concerned about is our starting Saturday and Sunday starters and our approach at the plate today. We could see their starter could not hit the broad side of the barn and we are swinging at balls letting him off the hook keeping his pitch count down.

You realize it’s possible to say we sucked today while also not act like the sky is falling correct?

The players are better than last year but the play-style is going to be similar. Got all those guys on base via walk & put zero pressure on them trying to steal a base or hit n run or even bunt.

Feel like it’s Tre Morgan, Dylan crews and a lineup of all 6-hole hitters with no real position in the field.

Dugas & Jobert hitting 1-2 makes me barf.

I think Morgan should hit leadoff & maybe let Jack Merrifield get some reps to see if he could potentially hit second. They have to find a better balance with some hitter-ish guys at the top. Maybe Nippolt, idk.

And Wonder if we see Skenes tomorrow at DH. Would have liked to see him go hit for Jobert in the 4th. Watching Jac Cagliaone play every night for FL gives me an itch. Jay is just so buttoned up all the time. Feel like the players tense up at times. Like they aren’t having fun. Let Skenes be a baseball player. He could be a spark
