It is when you’ve recently retired for low energy and health issues. His age may read 62, but he’s older than that in functional years

The court still sided with the victim

That's not exactly what happened....from what I can tell he and his family decided to plea so that his parent's 6 yr old granddaughter, his brother's 6 yr old daughter, didn't have live the nightmare of getting on the stand.

I'm not sure this isn't a case of a scorned woman destroying a family after a messy divorce by using the kid simply because she can....it wouldn't be the first time it happened.

At worst, the player did it and we hire a guy that supported him.

He did suspend him. I get you want him kicked off the team but hell it already has cost him millions of dollars in MLB.

ETA I wonder if Casey did it the way he did because he had some back room information that supported by theory above on the scorned woman.

Casey is 62, and only retired for like 3 years in a sport where these old farts coach til like 80.

Wayne Graham coached at Rice into his 80's.

There is such a thing as sitting out to recharge the batteries then coming back full tilt.

Casey seems like a no non sense type of guy that will get the best out of the team from an on field perspective

The job is so much more though, PM did a good job of the outside PR stuff to appease the fan base while relying more on assistants
I think that's one reason PM liked to hire former players as assistants, he knew they were not threats to his job and would do whatever he told them

Baseball knowledge wise and pitching wise Casey will be an upgrade

What exactly should Casey have done? He recruited and coached a kid for 3 seasons before the story was uncovered.

The University and the coaches knew the reason he was a registered sex offender when he arrived at the university. The reason the story broke is because he didn’t properly report himself when he moved to a new neighborhood. That’s why they couldn’t punish him when the story broke nationally. He never lied to them and they knew all along. He was suspended for the act of not reporting not because he was a sex offender.

There is something to this as well. MLB would've done their due diligence here, the guy was pretty dominant in college. They all passed on him.

You are contradicting yourself saying Saban is old as frick. You wouldn’t sign him up for 5 more years?

Who all has more National Championships right now that is younger than Casey?

Woodward doesn’t do the “wish and a prayer on a young guy” approach

It’s my understanding that because the accused/convicted was a minor at the time, no one outside the family knew about it. Certainly not anyone at OSU. I thought OSU learned about this when the kid failed to re-register or whatever he forgot to do.

If I am wrong on this it could change my opinion.
