Well, Army, I think a lot of Ranters would like to see more balance. Not sure I get your point as a balanced offense is likely to be more effective because the defense must prepare for running and passing. LF7 is generational player who could really help the passing game and vice versa. Balance is what is needed imho.

The only stats that matter are the numbers on the scoreboard at the end.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

We have a winner!!!

This times 1000.

This is the reason its important to have a more balanced attack. At some point, someone (Bama every year) will stop your run game. Than what? Wouldn't it been a good idea to prepare yourself for those times so when you finally find yourself in that situation you don't piss down your leg?

I don't think people want to see us take the ball out of LF7's hands but we need to step the passing game up a little or atleast be ready to. In no way shape or form is it okay to be one dimensional. Dont get me wrong i love watching us pound the ball at people but im not sure what happens if someone shuts down the ground game.

Queue responses saying anyone who wants more passing wants to be Baylor & Texas Tech "air raid" or spread lol.

There is no in between with some of you folks.

I never imagined that the day would come where someone would want Miles to be like Richt.

This is fallacious. Lou Pai compared Miles' ability to develop a QB within our "pro-style" offense to Richt's. No doubt we would want Miles to be like that. If he were, we'd have a national title or two more than currently. He wasn't talking about being like Richt in all facets.

Through three games LSU is averaging 101 yards through the air and 315 yards on the ground per game
Where does 416 yards rank? Probably not very high.

Great teams can usually do a bit of both.

We've got time to get better, but there will be a game where the running game isn't going well, and we are going to need the passing to bail us out. We still don't really know enough to know if it can be done.

So you want to see 5 more screens and 2 more bombs per game?

If that's all they're going to do, it's a waste. Unless they mix up the passing plays more--i.e., THROW A FEW OVER THE MIDDLE--it's pointless to have more passing plays.

Never said that.

I want to feel confident in knowing we can win a game passing when the run game isn't working like it normally does.

Right now, I don't know that we can, haven't seen it. Doesn't mean we can't, just means we haven't seen enough to really know.

Dasher a lot more inconpletions happen than negative runs and fumbles less often than interceptions, running gives more meaning to your TD because it took more time !

It's an old damned if you do damned if you don't problem.

Some people will never be happy unless it's a 40 point blowout and an undefeated season. Which is
hyper-unrealistic.

Wins are most important. Just keep winning.

It's actually process vs results.

I'm nowhere near a Nega-Tiger but I'm certainly logical enough to realize the odds of us getting to a playoff game while averaging right at or under 100 yards passing is slim to none.

I'd think we can all agree that we will need to pass more to be really successful this season.

It matters against elite defenses. You must have balance.

Have we won a title not having balance?

21-0 comes to mind.

Bama had balance against our elite D and scored 3 times.

We couldn't pass the 50 yard line.

This is why we must develop the passing game.

We're not asking or desire an air raid...we seeking respect so we dictate the outcome

This general topic being the most talked about in years, especially when we now have what appears to be a really good team worthy of N/C talk, I cant honesty recall a bad pass that BH threw Saturday. Seems as though just about all incompletions were the result of drops by the receiver, especially the 2 by Diarse that were downright inexcusable (probably the difference between a 10 point game and a blowout had we scored 7 on that drive and run off more clock). The drop by Malachi was the result of a great hit by the defender. I would say I was a little concerned about the amount of pressure on our QB as compared to what he will no doubt expect down the road. I'm hoping Cuse turns out to be as good as they looked at times and goes on the have a good season such that we can look back and say this was much more of a quality win than we were expecting. But overall, the coaching philosophy clearly appeared to be more of a mind to let him throw the ball more often than the 1st 2 games. In short, I would say the jury is still out on our passing game, and the same might can be said about our defense overall. I'm concerned people are taking South Carolina way too lightly though. Hope I'm wrong there.

LF7 is a once in a 100 year back. We would be crazy not to utilize him to the fullest. Further, this is his season to shine in all college football. I'm pretty sure he wants the rocks as much as he can get it.

What does that have to do with anything?

We can do both. Plenty of teams are great at running and passing. Hell, Mett's final season, we were really good at both.
