Can LSU really poke fun at anyone’s current hiring methods?

It’s almost like he couldn’t count on a Heisman quarterback to perform miracles

I don't know what happened later on but in typical Aggie fashion they screwed things up by firing him.
So firing a HC for regressing in 6 seasons from 11-2 to 4 straight 5 loss seasons is a screwed up move by aTm?
11-2
9-4
8-5
8-5

7-5

Was it a smart move by LSU?

At Arizona. He was fired by Michigan for losing and then was hired by Arizona

Sumlin at A&M: 51-26 - 66% winning record

Those are considered successful?

Post the records of the two coaches before him that coached in an easier conference. Sumlin isn't the greatest, but he attained a decent level of success there.

For Arkansas or Arizona. But Texas A&M can do better. Take out the OOC scrub games and hes’s basically .500

I know everyone says they haven’t won a NC is 70 or whatever years and LSU fans love to make fun of them. But how many examples of teams that have struggled and gotten better do we need, aside from LSU? They may not win a NC but it’s foolish to completely rule it out and even if they don’t they can certainly do better than 8-4, 4-4

No doubt, but some people act like he was a bum who did nothing. When they were coming into the SEC, people on here thought they would get crushed. He transitioned them pretty well and they won at some of the tough places to play like Bama, Auburn and blew out OU in a bowl. It had run its course, but overall, he did decent there.

Yeah, OK.

Maybe not technically, but he would've been fired. The rules violations sped it up a bit. His three years there were horrible.

Sumlin made improvements over Mike Sherman's tenure, therefore his stint should be viewed as successful.

Muschamp at UF: 28-21 - 57% winning record

Fisher at FSU: 83-23 - 78% winning record

Yeah, of course they are

Sumlin's worst season at A&M was 8-5 (7-5 this year without bowl) competing in the SEC West while it was tougher than at any time in it's history. He also had a great deal of success at UH.

Out of all of the Arizona HC candidates, I'm guessing he had one of the strongest resumes.

Sumlin had many problems ...
he rode Mr Football for all he could
and frankly, he has (had) A&M going in the right direction, not just fast enough. I am sure there are other issues.

Sumlin left a nice group and will make Jimbo look good in his first year.

Yeah i completely agree with that. Anyone that thinks Sumlin shouldn’t get another job is insane. Especially a place like Arizona as long as he does not have multiple losing seasons a record like he had at A&M would be fine and if he does well enough may get another shot at a big program.

With Muschamp I think Florida was too big for his first job. If he keeps winning at USCe he too Amy get another big program

He means at Michigan not Arizona. The whole point was Arizona hired him AFTER he got fired

No, technically he was not fired at Michigan for losing. He was accused of violating multiple NCAA rules.

He was losing big, though, so it was just a matter of time.

Would've been a great compliment with Arranda's skills.
I don't care for the unskilled HC approach.

There's a common denominator between the two, and it's Chavis. I respected Chavis when he first became a Tiger, but when he lost that 2012 game to Bama, he seemingly lost his mind as well. Look at A&M's defensive stats under the Chief.

I mean they could be hiring position coaches instead...
