Invoking the terms “virtue signaling” is a means of dismissing any commentary which raises moral issues. It is a convenient tool for those unwilling to discuss moral issues.

No its mostly calling into question the authenticity of concern over these "moral issues", when considering the hypocrisy and inconsistencies of the people virtue signaling.
