Our run scheme the last two seasons is the worst I have ever seen

Modern football, outside of a very select few teams, running the ball is all scheme. Rarely is it “run behind the line steamrolling guys”

I have never seen a scheme as bad as ours the last two years. It’s literally only “zone read up the middle”. Daniels just masked how shite it was last year

This year is unreal. It is no WR in motion misdirection, no RB in motion, just simple as shite up the middle fake zone read. Because this year it isn’t even a real zone read

How in the world do we continue to not try and make the run game work with actual play calling? It’s honestly truly wild to me watching

It worked with Jayden because it was Jayden. Looks like they're running the same offense but with a totally different style of QB/WR's. Lazy if you ask me.

First round talent on the O-line and we can’t run the ball to save our lives = you are 100% correct

If I’m not mistaken we didn’t run wide all night. Where was the jet sweep with Anderson or Thomas? No misdirection at all. As hard as the Aggies were coming and pursuing, where was a reverse or a screen pass? The play calling was very unimaginative.

no jet sweeps , no flare outs to RB, no screen plays. It truly is awful.

We run a lot of counter and power so it's not just inside zone. The line is just constantly getting beat at the point of attack and like others have said, we aren't threatening the outside with jet sweeps or even just faking the jet motion to get the defense to react. It's a huge problem.

1st-round talent when you have a Heisman QB like Jayden playing behind them. This year they've been exposed as being Tarzan when pass-blocking and Jane when run-blocking. We just didn't see it last year because Jayden could make do even with that shite run-blocking. Plus, losing Markway may have been a bigger loss than we first realized (wasn't he a really good run-blocking TE for us last year?).

Unfortunately, I don't see people like our two "stud" tackles suddenly learn to run-block in the second half of their final collegiate years. So we're just going to have to do our best with what we have - and that starts with either selling out for pass plays or Nuss starting to actually run a LOT more to keep the defense guessing and open more gaps for Durham.

We're just not built to have a functional run scheme on offense. Sucks to say that out loud after last year, but better to get the truth out (and hopefully deal with it) than continue to lie to ourselves by saying we have the best OT duo on college ball. That's only true if they both plan to get drafted by the 1970's Chargers with Don Coryell at coach and Dan Fouts at QB - which, even if it could happen, does nothing for us for the rest of the year.

We need to play to our strengths, period. And running ain't it.

Lazy like promoting Sloan lazy instead of searching for a proven OC with experience?

We ran inside zone on second down like 5 straight fricking series. Absolute fricking trash.

It looks like we are pass blocking on run plays. Looks strange to me.

Last two seasons?

LSU has been running this same boring uncreative one play running scheme for like 4 yrs now. It just looks even worse now because Nuss refuses to keep the ball and run whereas all the previous QBs weren’t afraid to keep it and run.

We actually motion all the damn time lmfao. We have one of the highest pre-snap motion offenses in the Country.

Now does our run game need to be more creative? Sure. But the main problem is our offensive line specifically the interior offensive line gets no movement.

Do we need to stop running inside zone and trying to sell it as a Read-Option? Yes. But honestly, we have tried counter, buck sweep, and outside zone and the offensive line wasn't any better at creating holes so not sure what you can do until that gets resolved.

JD masked a lot of problems we had on offense, but even Logan Diggs averaged over 5 yards a carry with basically the same O-Line as last year minus Chester. A big part of that was also respecting Daniels as a run threat, and we unfortunately do not have that this year with Nuss.

You have also magically forgotten that Diggs existed last year. He ran for almost 700 yards and 5.5 ypc in 10 games. He didn’t play all of the 10 games due to injury, either. Before he went down, the run game had a solid 1-2 punch with him and Daniels.

It’s obviously not working well this year, even with the added runs to the outside and counters, draws and pistol sets (all of which you have also failed to account for) that we see every game. We have only run effectively with Durham getting the bulk of the carries, but he hasn’t been 100% since USA and we don’t know when he will be again.

Do some of you watch the games? We ran at least two short wheels to Durham and two WR Screens Saturday. Only one was successful. Same with 3 or 4 outside runs in the first half. A&M’s run and short pass defense was very good on the outside.

I do hate that we haven’t seen Thomas on a jet sweep since game 2 or 3, but we have run it.

We ran a decent amount earlier in the season. It seems like they dumped those plays during the bye week, or maybe just before. We don’t have a true blocking TE (unless you consider Bordelon one now) and our OL struggles enough with basic zone blocking. They definitely didn’t pick up pulling and running gap plays during the offseason.

Our Oline is only as good as our weakest link. I'll let you decide which one is that.
