The 90's we were there damn near every year and won half of them. We travel well and feed everyone so after all these years we have become by far the town favorite. If you go this year, you will see. It will be overrun with LSU.

This.
I a friend of my dads used to stop by the Lee's pie place outside of Alexandra and pick up several pies to bring to people around Omaha. He did this every single year as well as bring them seasoning packs, etc

La just has such a more friendly attitude that the mid-western people they are used to and it just caught on that LSU was going to be loved.

Skips earlier teams had a much more "relaxed" bar rules as I recall and some of the players helped add to the mystic of Barret's.
The LSU fans I know can drink and party, but they will buy all the people around them drinks and include them in the fun as well.

It seems so obvious, but this is it.

LSU fans travel even when the team doesn't. They stay after their team is eliminated. They travel in more numbers than other teams do. When they are there, they spend more money.

I am on vacation in Mexico and I ran into a group of folks from Omaha on Saturday and they said, "We fricking love LSU people. We are rooting for you guys to win so we can hang out with LSU people again." Pretty cool.

Back in the early 90’s Nebraska and Miami were powers in football. Nebraska fans pulled for anyone playing Miami. Between us beating Miami and bringing fun, food, excitement and courteous fans to the CWS, Omaha loved the TIGERS. Today most in Omaha just know they love when the tigers come to town.

LSU baseball travels better than almost everyone in the country and we have been there a lot.

I'll edit that to "LSU baseball travels better than everyone in the country"...ain't no "almost" about it.

Woodmen was lit purple the night LSU clinched. Their forum is convinced its because we can't wait for them to get here.

So their board really is convinced that Omaha loves when they get to the CWS. I'm new here, so is this true or are they just full of themselves?

quote:

Omaha does love LSU fans. They are a lot of fun and spend a ton of $$$ in Omaha. Barrett's is going to be the place to be this weekend

We love the LSU fans. They were easily the most fun when you could tailgate at the Blatt.

Great people who know how to have a good time and include others.

Louisiana brings the best tailgaters and food in the country... With either LSU or ULALA coming I was ready to find me some new friends...

LSU Baseball fans are by far and away the best fans in College Baseball, or maybe all of college sports. Very inclusive, know how to party, bring a great atmosphere, and oh my goodness the food.

Went in 2000 and walked into a grocery store to get some beer and meat to grill. Had several different conversations with several different store employees, all started by them. Expressing how much they love us being there and that they are lsu fans after Nebraska or whatever other team they liked. But loved to hear anytime lsu was coming to town. Just lots of fun expected.

Obviously there's 4 SEC teams going so I expect them to be the dominant fan bases there. As all of you say the people of Omaha just love LSU and its fans. I wonder what the dynamic will be like between them and the 3 other SEC schools who obviously probably aren't so fond of us especially because they know us well during football season.

Lot of locals will wear LSU colors. Funny to see that with those accents
This is true. I live in The Woodlands, and I saw a chick wearing an LSU tee shirt at our mailbox. I gave her a Geaux Tigers, she gave me a strange look, and said Oh, I am from Omaha, and just moved here. She told me that they love the Tigers up there.

Age causing issues with my memory re his name, but back when USCw was still in its glory, their HC one year went on their radio network, live from Omaha, to complain about LSU having an unfair "home field" advantage due to all the local fans pulling for LSU. I know, first hand, that locals like Manda's Hot Sausage, etc, love it when LSU goes to Omaha, because a lot of the grocery stores & restaurants will call down & order a lot of their products to sell to visiting LSU fans.
