Our current sec standing = mid week game means zilch

We currently control our own destiny with just 2 sec weekend left. I doubt CPM and crew care one bit about mid week games. We take 2 of 3 the next two weeks and we put ourselves right in line with a national seed going into the sec tournament. Guys please don't get so worked up over these midweek games bc frankly they mean nothing. Not this late into the season with where this team is sitting currently.

Not all midweek games are created equal. You don't think beating a team with a 51 rpi at the top of their conference last night would've helped?

This team is going to be right on the borderline for a national seed. When you are squarely on the borderline, every game, especially losses to low RPI teams matter. Do they matter as much as SEC games? Of course not. However, if you think they mean nothing, you are delusional and only kidding yourself.

You win the series this weekend and nobody even remembers this midweek loss.

I keep seeing this being said, but technically we dont. We control our own destiny in the west. UF could sweep the next two series and win the SEC regular season regardless of what we do

When we dont get a National Seed. It will be because we lost way too many midweek games

You cant go 2-2 every week

Saban treats every game, even Mercer, like an important game. That's why he'll be a legend and Paul will be Les 2.0. I remember LSU only had a 4 point lead on Furman at the half in football in 2013 because the team didn't care

Currently, they certainly do mean something. If the season ended today, we would be on the regional host bubble. I think we would get it, but our RPI is marginal (thanks to these 6 losses mostly) and 4 other SEC schools have just as good arguments.

Now you can use the "if" argument all you want, but it doesn't mean shite. If we lose all our remaining games... if we win 2... if we win 4... all of those scenarios put us on some kind of bid/hosting/seeding bubble. The only scenario where the midweek games mean nothing is if we win out.

If a team is on the cusp of hosting and that selection committee sees you cant win midweeks games and are 0-4 against tulane and uno then you lose out.

If LSU was 37-14, instead of 32-19, with wins over Tulane and UNO, twice, and this USA game, I'm about 99% sure their RPI would be better than it currently is.

Don't think so. We need Kentucky to fall on their face the next two weeks if all we do is win 2 out of 3 each week

bullshite. It will take a lot more than that. Winning 2 of 3 in the next two weekends, and losing to NW State next week, would put us at 36-20 going into the SEC tournament. With that record, even winning the SECT likely would not get us a national seed, and anything short of winning it definitely wouldn't. In 2011, a 36-20 record didn't even get us an invitation to the tournament at all.

This baseball team obviously isn't worth getting "worked up over", but this statement is just wrong. Every game a team plays, regardless of what day of the week it is or what conference the opponent is in, counts exactly the same.

Where this team is sitting currently is borderline whether they'll host a regional and not even in contention for a national seed. Even to be in the discussion for a national seed, we needed to close very strongly, and losing to South Alabama is not a part of that.

If State sweeps this weekend, then we could win the State series and still lose the west.

Technically your right as far as SEC standing goes but if think having a .500 record in mid week against mediocre competition won't effect their seeding then your freaking nuts.

So we're supposed to be okay with our guys not having the mental toughness to hold onto a 4 run lead just because of what day of the week it happened?

First of all wtf does Saban have to do with baseball?
Secondly if you think Saban game plans and prepares for Georgia Southern or Tenn Tech like he does for LSU or Auburn then you are dumber than your post indicates
