Correct

So one freaking loss to UAB back in the Dark Ages, negates not only the 2003 LSU NC, but all the subsequent SEC and National Championships at Bama, huh?

BTW Pump Bhoy, you forgot to put the "That's" before " Baseball."

It all matters.

There are so many posters on this board who are unable to draw reasonable conclusions because they only see things in black and white.

The midweek games will hurt...but on their own do not 100% prevent the possibility of getting a national seed. Similarly, winning all midweek games help, but on their own do not overcome conference play deficiencies.

Right now, we are back in the discussion for a national seed. Personally, I don't think we are there, and it's going to take us playing like a top 5 seed the rest of the way for us to end up there. If all of that happens, the most important thing about all of that is we will be playing great ball at the right time.

If LSU was 37-14, instead of 32-19, with wins over Tulane and UNO, twice, and this USA game, I'm about 99% sure their RPI would be better than it currently is.

You are assuming by not allowing our bench to play more in off weeks, we would have the same record on weekends. That is of course not measurable, but common sense would tell me that playing the players that don't usually play improves the total ability of the team.

amen. but not JUST common sense. any successful baseball coach will tell you the same thing. we have to replace players every year and build a bull pen every year. the midweek games do that.

No joke...with a mid season loss, Skip used to make the team run and run and run - right after the game and in front of the opponent. Remember one time, UNO had to Give the lights guy overtime.

All of this.

The mid week games could end up costing them a national seed if its a toss up with another team. But the more important thing is they appear to be getting hot at the right time. Also the committee puts a heavy emphasis on the last 15 games or so. If they can win 2 against State then win at least two in Hoover, that may do it. But will still likely take someone higher on the RPI right now slipping up a bit. Which usually happens this time of year.

Ok I can understand losing to a team like Tulane, but south Alabama, that's inexcusable.

Ridiculous. 18-9 in the SEC is not going to knock anybody out of a national seed. Nor is losing two of three in the first three weeks of the season against three top tier opponents.

Losing half your midweek games against low RPI teams will definitely do it, though.

We are what, 7-5 or 7-6 during midweek games?

Go look at Florida's midweek record and get back with me. They are considered a national seed and they are 8-5 midweek

Midweek games don't. Mean. shite. All it does is help fill up your schedule. Committee doesn't care about them.

They have some very high quality midweek wins, though. And they are only 18-8 in SEC play, so it's not like that's where they're getting their huge advantage over LSU in the national seed discussion.

Every game counts exactly the same, no matter what day of the week it's played or what conference the opponent is in. LSU has never been a national seed with a record this bad in midweek games.

So the games this weekend vs state count just like a game against mcneese? Bull shite. You know what u said is false. If every game counts the same why don't they just put the pitchers on a set day rotation like in the majors?

yep a set rotation of Lange, Poche, Walker, Hess everyone will pitch Midweek, and weekend. if needed fifth starter in that MLB rotation would be Caleb Gilbert.

Mid week games can keep you from a national seed.
