it's the guys who leave when they should stay for their senior year.

I, like anyone else with sense, have no problem with the projcted 1st rounders leaving. they are dominating their positions - we'd love for them to stay, but we get it.

we hardly had any seniors starting for us - Nick Brossette, Foster Moreau, John Battle. anyone else?

so many guys who would really help the team as seniors are gone.

I really don't think we can do anything about it. so many of these players come from poverty that we can't wrap our minds around. so many have no fathers who are taking care of the family. sure, they would be better served waiting one more year, but these are 20 and 21 year olds. they don't like school and they want to help the family. they are making what they believe is the best decision for themselves and their family.

in the meantime, it kills our depth chart. here's why it hurts - you can't match alabama in recruiting top to bottom. but, alabama can only put 11 men on each side of the ball at one time. we can recruit to match a 2, 2 1/2 deep, if we can keep some seniors.

we're not the only ones, but it's hard to see as a fan. But, I am wrapping my mind around the fact that it's going to happen so I might as well just settle down. I am reading posts every day about this subject, and ranters are losing it. I get it. I wish the schools had some tools to help these guys out.

For the 2018 season, practice squad players can make no less than $7,600 per week, which equates to $129,200 for the season.

Even players that don't get drafted can still make very good money and they also are able to get on the health insurance policy. Every decision is individual and is up to each player to do what's best them, not for us.

FTR, Brumfield was a Sr. starter for most of the season.

It's like we put in an express lane to the NFL.

It's stunning some of the guys who try to enter and I think you nailed it ...poverty in LA is strong

That said ... no way all those poor decisions were due to their impoverished childhoods

Sorry have to disagree with you here. Until the offense changes, we could have a team of all seniors and it wouldn't matter when we play Bama. While it may not be all about Bama they are who we have to beat to be the SEC Champ or NC.

Its a sign of the times. Too much money to be made and these guys aren't here for school. theyre here to play football, so they might as well be getting paid to do it. Its a different mindset with not much value put on the education they are getting/missing.

While this is one important aspect to success it is not nearly our biggest obstacle. Our biggest obstacle is our offense. Doesn’t matter how many players we keep or 5 stars we sign if we don’t have a complete overhaul of our offensive coaching, scheme, and philosophy we will be left behind. Unfortunately I think we already have been.

Yep.

Until we decide to get competitive on offense, all these other matters are distractions.

This was true before the playoff. But not now.

Because we play in the SEC. we have a good chance to get in the playoff with 1 loss.

This year we would have gotten in with only 1 loss to Bama.

Our biggest obstacle to success is we clearly don't care about success. You wouldn't fire your national championship winning head coach just to replace him with his D line coach if you did. We need a change from the top down if we want real success

And who would we have to play to win the playoffs? No matter how you slice it you have to beat Bama to win the NC.

No one other than Ole Miss has beaten Saban 2 times in a row.

That was a fluke 5 turnovers and a tipped pass for a TD.

Make no mistake it is all Saban, no other school has done this for this amount of time and when he is gone it won't happen again.

So to have 1 loss and make the playoff when you have to play in the same division as the greatest coach in college football history is a win.
