absolutely. part of players getting better over the years
They didn't play with thee same interpretation of the rules thirty years ago.
Athletes are better today, however, how much difference has there been in track and field records? Many of the records have been due to equipment and track surface improvements.

you are insane. MJ and Malone didn't play that long ago. I think they would both be better in today's NBA. Magic Johnson would still be a physical freak of nature

Okay so you think Magic, Jordan, Bird, Malone and Chamberlain transported in their prime would have to acclimate themselves? Do you think Bird would have to work on making 3's? Jordan on dunks? Magic on passing? Malone and Chamberlain on intimidation and sheer power?
They would be forcing the 2021 players to acclimate themselves!

Jordan was an all-star at 40 years old and that was only 8 years ago.
He would be the best player in the NBA
Anyone who doesn't think that Malone, Magic, and MJ wouldn't be absolutely dominant with the EXACT same skill set they had are fricking crazy
Magic was a 6-9 PG. Think about CP3 trying to guard him
What about when Malone and MJ played?

you really think those 5 wouldnt dominate any era? It being light on true centers is even more so a reason Wilt would dominate! I realize Wilt didnt always play against great centers but do u really think a 7-1 280lb Chamberlain would not be a force today? He was a great athlete in any era! I guess Jordan would be a backup because there are so many 6-6 guys with 40+ inch verticals and his desire running around!

way more so. what exactly do they have to do with centers?

They'd beat the living crap out of today's team. Not even close.
Hey Roxy52, take that old, slow arse white boy out of your sig post. It's distracting while you contradicting yourself.

just mentioning the overall talent level. Malone competed against fellow bigs and Jordan dunked over them
The only player on your list that is debatable is Wilt.
MJ and Malone already showed they could play in the current era of basketball IMO
I think MJ, Malone, and Magic would be BETTER in today's game

Oh I think Wilt would dominate even more now there are only a few guys that could truly compete with his size and atleticism. Remember in the late 60's and early 70's it was a center league. Nate Thurmond, Bill Russell, Jabbar, Willis Reed just to name a few playing then

His mothership also told him Jimi Hendrix just can't keep up with today's guitar players, due to new advances in guitars & amplifiers.

Am guessing he also thinks John Lennon and Elvis would have been flops too?

skill set i agree theres less of, however there are lots more with his size and athleticism. how many 7 footers did they have with dirk's skill set back in the late 60's and early 70's?

Few if any but do you honestly think Dirk would have a prayer in the post with Wilt? While Dirk is throwing up threes Wilt would be dunking on him? The key is shaped like it is now because of Wilt Chamberlain how many rules or court modifications is Dirk responsible for? Wilt would be a monster, in recent memory only guys like Shaq in his prime, Hakeem and Dwight Howard could stay with him. I love David Robinson and Tim Duncan but I seriously doubt either could match up with im in the post!

The point isn't whether those guys are great players. They absolutely are, and are some of the greatest players to ever play the game. Their skillset during that time was far removed from the average player at that time, hence they are so highly regarded.
But the conversation centered around whether some good collegiate players at LSU in the early 80's could dominate any LSU team today. And quite simply, I don't presume to know, unlike posters on this board (Rudy) that blindly says that some team in the early 80's would beat the current club by 30. That's ranter typical stuff for you, but it's an argument with no proof at all.
My lone point is that the greatest players of all-time like the Jordan's of the world, played so far out of their generation that they are considered truly great. That's why we place those guys in a discussion with all other time periods and discuss who's the best.
So my point stands. Sure, that LSU club may beat this team, but who really knows. Just look at the differences with the physical build of football players over the last twenty years at every position. It's astounding how different the game is in each sport based simply on the athleticism and physical nature of the current players.

What the hell are you guys talking about? You're using 4 of the top 6 or 7 players ever on the face of the earth to prove your point? Of course the argument will be slanted in your direction, you are using bullshite parameters.
Use the rule, not the exception. Shoot for the league average compared to today's league average. How would Maurice Lucas fair in today's game against Paul Milsap or David West? How would Reggie Theus play against Rudy Gay?

Yes, one and the same.
I'm all for drawing the line with Trent. He has put himself in this position for the most part. but CT2's credibility runs thin with me.
