I think the advent of the three-point line and dunking is what made Hitchcock such a miserable old frick. Just too much change for the old guy during his college days.

Yeah, there was a place called Deaf Dome at LSU at one time. Too bad the youngsters haven't seen it.

Yeah, those things used to happen all the time. But now, Trent "Baby Steps" Johnson teams can't make layups.

Maybe he should hop in the Delorean, high-tail it back to the future, and start recruiting those McDonald's All-americans from 25 years ago. TAF is just wasting our money on facilities and other nonsense right Hitch. Because we all know what happened in the past shows us exactly what will happen in the future. That's probably why you're a successful stock person, because you rely on all that historical information that shows you exactly what the stock will do because it did it before. You are the man Hitchcock, super smart.

we know the stars of today, what with their superior size and athleticism, would hold no candle to the legends of hitchcocks day. nut-hugger shorts FTW

Uhhh did u see the guys playing in nuthugger shorts? I dont think it is even debatable that any LSU basketball team from the 80's would not beat the present team by 20 to 30 points.

Sure this years team would win if you put the 80's guys on the floor now but if you put them on the floor in their prime it would be no contest they would name the score against this years team.

I completely agree. Not. Even. Debatable. Furthermore, Pistol Pete would score a hundred points a game in this day and age with the three-point line and a shot clock. Nobody would stop him. Because even though there is no way to prove such things, I "know" in my heart of hearts that this is true. The game hasn't changed. People aren't taller, stronger, faster overall. A 6'5" guard was a regular occurrence in 1980.

You are so right Rudy40. This goes for all sports too. Offensive lineman weighing three and four hundred pounds, quarterbacks that are 6'6" 250, linebackers at nearly 270 pounds. Those guys were all over the field in the 1980's.

Man I love how times simply do not change. Completely static environment we're living in fella's and for some reason, that is very comforting.

I didnt say things dont change but do u seriously think a Rudy Macklin, Greg Cook, Ethan Martin, John Williams, Howard Carter, Jerry Reynolds or Nikita Wilson wouldnt dominate? Or do you think a 80's Michael Jordan who came to the NBA now would be a bench player? MJ left UNC in 84!

Yes, use the greatest player in the history of the game as an example to prove your point about the LSU basketball team in the early 80's.

The last time I checked, this is still America and we still have at least some vestiges of freedom. CT has the right to speak his mind as a past player and fan of LSU basketball.

I didn't see anyone claim that his words were unconstitutional or that he should be arrested for them. Just as he has the right to his opinions I have the right to agree or disagree with them.

ETA -- still would love to see a link to the article

nope, don't think a team from 30 years ago would dominate this years team. sorry. like was previously stated, these guys today are bigger, faster, stronger than they are 30 years ago.

you're probably the same person who thought a couple years ago that the women's team could beat the men's team (during a down year for the men's team and a final 4 run by the women's)

Thanks for telling me what I think but I can telling you having watched both teams play and the athletes a 6-7 215 lb Leonard Mitchell could dominate any post player on this years team.

Wow! You really got me. Oh sorry..a Kinks then Van Halen song from the Stone Age. Maybe your Justin Beibler or one of your rap / hip hoppers will "Sample" it one day.

They're wasting time on Baby Steps Johnson. Facilities are good enough for the 300-400 that go now.

5 of 27 SEC play the last 2 years, speaks for itself.

Maybe the 54 year old acting LSU Basketball Coach needs to go Back to the Future & learn how to coach?
