He makes corrections and figures out ways to minimize weaknesses better than a lot of coaches.

I had my doubts about O. I didn't think he was the best HC we could get last year. I was disappointed by the hire. I was skeptical about where our record would be after this arduous schedule...

I have to admit I am becoming more and more confident in coach O. I have always liked him as a motivator, recruiter and person. I love his attitude. I think he has beat most people's expectations thus far (myself included). I want him to keep leading the tigers to victory.

That all being said, I do not think we should talk about extension until the end of the season. A 10-2 season without a bowl or CFP appearance would be better than expectations. I would still want to see another year of progress before I make a big commitment of time and money to O. We made a big mistake extending Miles IMO and I dont want a repeat.

O isn't going anywhere, he loves LSU. If he keeps leading the team in this direction, he will get his extension and raise.

As one of the last to turn on Miles, I agree with you.

It's noticeably next-to-impossible to accurately predict the plays in any situation this year.

THAT is remarkable.

What does that have to do with with what you quoted? Is the team perfect? Absolutely not. Does it appear to be heading in the right direction instead of stagnating? Absolutely.

media paints him as a caricature of Louisianians

I really haven't seen that. I think Coach O is pretty popular outside the state of Louisiana. sometimes (not sure with you of course) I think many Louisianians are overly sensitive about their image regarding the Cajun thing. most people love it. Orgeron's "accent" is not that strong; it's his raspy voice and his look (including body type). he was a defensive lineman for god's sake and a football coach. a lot of football coaches are "rough" looking and sounding.

nevertheless, I believe that it is harder for him to gain respect inside the state than outside. the media doesn't have a damn thing to do with it; prejudging people DO. I learned a long time ago not to "judge a book by it's cover".

This year has been a ton of fun to watch: The offense appears to be well balanced and WELL COACHED No/minimal stupid mistakes, penalties, and turnovers I have a ton of confidence when joe drops back to pass and even more when he scrambles Defense has stayed on par as one of the best in the country Special teams is improved BIG TIME

amen, it makes LSU football fun again.

It’s safe to say that our coaching staff as a whole has done a tremendous job of getting this team ready to play, week in, week out.. I know it’s a hot topic around here and people are sick of it (myself included), but O has done a great job so far this year.

but when we lose another game stay away from this board for the next week. there will be those that want his head on a platter. I see us as a 10-2 team this year; hell, we may beat bama and lose to the aggies. it's the nature of the beast and it appears bama is the only team right now damn near immune to it.

So true... In the Miles era EVERONE knew what was coming... However it does show that Miles had some great players to still get the job done knowing what was coming.... But it was boring could be....

Ill give him this much, the dude is a hell of a motivator/recruiter and gets our team hype and ready to play. I don’t see him as a football genius as far as x’s and o’s goes, but maybe I’m wrong about that too. Time will tell.

This is what idiots in the media like Michael Wilbon that never watched LSU didn’t understand. I remember he said he hopes LSU becomes a bottom feeder for getting rid of Les and others had similar opinions.

There were just some obvious blatantly obvious things like this that were totally unacceptable that were incredibly simple fixes. I remember the first game against Missouri that O and Ensminger coached it was obvious how easy they were to fix.

Now I didn’t think they were the permanent solution but it just shows how ridiculously stubborn Les was that he refused to address these things.

This. Miles was and still is a big fan of LSU. He was also a fan on the sidelines while he was supposed to be coaching LSU.

nice, that we no longer have to deal with the following issues.

1) Short Side Options after a time out
2) DOG penalties after a time out
3) WTF play calling after a time out
4) Continuous misuse of time outs
5) Not knowing which play was called....after a time out.
6) RUN RUN PASS PUNT.....sometimes after a time out.

Not even arguing anything in your post because all of that has been wonderful, but it is a valid question if that would still be true had we not fallen arse backwards into Joe fricking Burrow.

How different would we look with Myles Brennan right now?

The good thing is that we have another fifteen months to continue to rehab our image on offense, and QB in particular, so that once he’s gone we’ll have the next generation of QBs ready to continue the trend that Burrow started.

Just like the last coach, if things go back to shite once the already developed QB leaves, things will grind to a halt all over again.

As big a signing as Fournette was, Burrow could very well be the Faulk type signing that changes everything for years to come.

He was available and O went and got him.

And he's showing Brennan what a real team leader QB does.

Hope Brennan learns

WTF does that have to do with the price of Red Bull in Larose???

Would any other coach that could have replaced Miles have been able to lure him here?? Competing against Cincinnati?
