Exactly. And without Joe Brady.

Yet he still made a change at OC, and we're moving forward. He doesn't need to mention the 2019 offense anymore.

I don't know. You can look at it a couple ways. Joe Brady is an OC in the NFL. That could be part of the angle, to make sure recruits know we are still putting the hammer down.

Is O really using the phrase that frequently? I ask because i honestly don't know. I took some time off from TD.

Is it really that big of a deal?

It kind of is. He's the HC. It's squarely on his shoulders as how the team executes as far as who his coordinators are.

He can bring up 2019 and as stellar as a season that was. No doubt. He deserves every bit of credit for putting that together but the longer we get away from that year and if we don't improve, not saying we can't improve, but if we don't look better than we did last season, it makes O look like it was more of catching lightning in a bottle instead of his head coaching abilities. I want to stress I don't hate O or anything like that. I like the guy.

With that being said, he also deserves criticism, not hate, but criticism for how the defense looked last year. He said himself he didn't even interview Pelini. Who hires someone without any interviewing the applicant? That makes no sense.

Example: Last year this time he said the defense looks better than it did in the 2019 season. We all know how that turned out.

He can recruit with the best but as far as hiring 'the best coordinators' that remains to be seen. I don't want to say it like that but it's the truth.

He nailed the Brady hire but he's had more swings and misses than hits so far.

And I like O. I do. I've met him and he's a super cool guy. I'm a big fan of him however he sometimes says too much and he shouldn't divulge that much info this far in advance. It could come back and bite him, like last season.

I'm hearing promising things about Jones and Peetz so we'll see. I'm optimistic.

If you’re hearing what I’m hearing there’s no reason to be a doubter.

The elites hate Orgeron and the media has turned against him. Don’t let that crap cloud the waters. Orgeron will get LSU to the CFP again within the next 3 years. I could see it happening this year.

Fair. Orgeron's biggest strength is as a recruiter, so he knows what he's doing there. Talking about what was accomplished 2 seasons ago can still get traction with recruits.

I mean, I don't have a running tally, but I've seen it brought up more than once. Like I said in a previous post, he would talk about USC or Miami in press conferences before 2019. It's not unusual for him.

To this board, it apparently is.

Nothing is clouding the waters. Not the media or anything else. My only skepticism is O's track record hiring coordinators but as I said, it sure makes me optimistic.

We'll see. The team has loads of experience and depth on the defensive side of the ball. I'm wondering about the OL and maybe the TEs but we'll see.

Lsu is not winning the title this year

Next year or the year after will be the sweet spot.

God bless Ensminger, but I wish we’d invested in a real OC after Brady left.
Orgeron could have (Could've) invested in a young and innovative PGC. Nope.

What about Joe Lombardi with the Saints? Nope.

What about Offensive Analyst Munoz? (Whom Burrow loved and who knew the Brady Offense) Nope.

He brings in NFL Dinosaur Linehan that didn't have a clue and combined with Dinosaur Ensminger (Whom apparently didn't absorb much of the Brady Offense) was a significant down grade.

Linehan and Pelini in the same year.

O Sycophants still spewing out the BS excuses for their Omnipotent Cajun Overlord........

Everyone should have known “ensminger’s offense” was bullshite. He all of a sudden learned a brand new offense and ran it to perfection after one offseason?

Suuuuure.

I agree with the general gist (except for the last sentence), but I'm just curious why you wrote out could have, then contracted it and put it in parentheses.
Why????????

I disagree this is the year. We have depth on both lines and our running game will be back. The wild card on offense will be a young receiver stepping up and the emergence of Jack Bech at TE. Our defense will be back and in a big way we have two shutdown corners and a stocked safety room. We are going back to the playoff. BOOK IT

It's all that guy does. He rips the team, any LSU team, for this and that and then throws out stupid phrases like pump a lumps and nonsense combined with his overuse of emojis.

He never says anything good about any LSU team. Ever. Not the baseball team, not the basketball team, not the football team. It's just blah blah blah and a bunch of emojis. Weird. No idea why he does it but he does.

Don't pay any attention to him.

“Pelini’s defense will be better than arandas”
“The offense will still be firing on all cylinders because it was ensminger all along!”
“Jk, it was Brady”

That’s why I don’t watch press conferences. It’s all fluff and if they say anything noteworthy, it’ll be a headline before I get to the show anyway.

Probably true , but every time he says that he slaps Ensminger in the face ! and indirectly himself for not replacing Ensminger to begin with !

If anyone actually reads between the lines they’ll get that the aspect O mentioned when talking about the defense being better than 2019 was the pass rush.

That’s about the only thing that Pelini had going for him. Everything else was utter trash. When O says he lets his coordinators do their own thing he means it and Pelini stunk it up with his assignments and alignments.

I give O a pass on the 2020 hires coming off a natty and a lot of turmoil going on in his life plus the influence of Woodward, and corona. It was by no means a normal coaching search. O wanted an injection of youth and energy after 17/18 and the 2020 hires were the antithesis of that new philosophy.
