That doesn't mean I've forgotten who our illustrious leader is. I'll turn on him and join your ranks when I feel he's screwed up enough.
He hasn't yet. I support him to an extent because I refuse to be that negative before we've even kicked off.
You can make a case for being pissed about Troy/State. But it's hard to completely condemn a coach for 9-4. He wins that ND game and things are a little rosier around here.
You can make a case that each season is its own entity. I just see LSU football led by a man that has displayed a pattern of questionable decision making, mismanaging his staff, and leading a team that consistently is something less than the sum of its parts.
It's extremely difficult for me to believe that someone's just going to stop being that person and be someone that can compete on the level of the better coaches in the SEC. At some point you just are what you are. After 30 years in coaching most coaches are close to their maximum potential.

It doesn’t, because it was unreasonable. Not really sure where you are going with this.
I agree with you for the most part My thoughts are if we don’t win at least 10 games we should just move on. We fired Miles to get better not stay the same or even get worse. Especially given the fact that our talent level has not diminished, and has arguably gotten better since he took over.

Please, enlighten us on which games Miles' teams did not "strive" to win

One game? Five games? A championship?

I said the West. Is it realistic to win the West every year? Hell no. Not even the greatest run by Alabama wins the West every year. I do however think we should win the West some and be within reach every year.

This will be his 2nd season officially as LSU head coach.
Again, he will coach his 20th game against Miami.
He will have coached for over 30 games at the end of the season.
At what point can we begin to evaluate what we have seen without being a "hater"?

Absolute nonsense.
The teams O played in 2016 with record and rush defense ranking:
W Missouri 4-8 (2-6) #118
W Southern Miss 7-6 (4-4) #53
W Ole Miss 5-7 (2-6) #117
L Alabama 14-1 (8-0) #1
W Arkansas 7-6 (3-5) #89
L Florida 9-4 (6-2) #34
W Texas A&M 8-5 (4-4)#84
O did NOTHING that Miles wouldn't have done and likely did worse. He ran up stats against TERRIBLE run defenses to dazzle idiots like you and Alleva and couldn't get wins against the better teams that he played AT HOME.

All of this to excuse a 30 point loss to MSU and the first ever loss to a Sun Belt team

Glad to see we are past the excuse making of the Miles years and onto results oriented discussions under the new regime!!

This is my point.
All of this ambiguous nonsense that leaves room for spin and excuses.
I have been clear in what I think reasonable goals are for O:
Not calling to win the West this year, but 10-2 putting us in position for a NY6 Bowl this year is a must. Anything less is a failure.
If he gets the NY6 bowl this year, win the West in 2019.
If he doesn't get the NY6 bid this year, there is no reason to think he will the following year with all of the new coaches on our schedule moving into Year 2 at their programs. We will only fall further behind.
If he makes the NY6 bowl this year but doesn't win the West in 2019, which would be nearly 4 full seasons since he took over, it would be a historic trend reversal for him to ever win it after that.
I called for Miles to be fired after 2016 if he couldn't win the West that year, which would have been his fourth year without winning the West or going 10-2.
Why on Earth would O deserve more than that?

Absolutely! Like O or not, you have to pull for the Tigers. It isn't fair to our team to hate on their coach. You either pull for LSU or against LSU, regardless of who the coach is.

I’d be happy with an average of 10-2. That record many times can lead to a West title. And if not, very close and coming down to the wire in the back end of the season. (Within reach).
Some = sometimes
Within reach = within a game.
I think with this years schedule, 10-2 would be great, and get people to lay off a little. I don’t think we are disagreeing that much.

Come on man. Righting the ship? Wisconsin and Auburn were 2 of the toughest 3 games on the schedule. O would've lost those games and probably more decisively.
But your rationale is exactly why Alleva fired him when he did. He saw the fanbases discontent with Les, coupled with the easing up of the schedule, and knew O could get on a roll and garner some support. More importantly, he knew Les couldn't be here or he would get that support and Alleva would've lost his opportunity to get rid of him.

Granted last season started rough with the Canada issue of the players just not getting it and his thin skin bellicose attitude combined with the injuries transfers. And suspensions which left the team very thin on both lines forcing two true freshman into starting roles on the O line
There are issues with every team. He just does a poor job managing them. If there's no adversity, he's great.

He's gotten a couple years now. Last year wasn't his start, he took over before the midpoint in '16.
He had talent on his prior teams, he supposedly has talent on this team (White and Williams are preseason All Americans, Burrow is supposed to be a sensation, Giles is supposed to be great).
If there are any positions that are still bare after a couple years recruiting, that's now on him- LSU is not a program where players develop and play as seniors. It's a place where guys come in and make impacts, and leave for the NFL in 3 years. If you can't accept that, you are at the wrong place.
People talk about 'tough schedules"... that's also a load of crap. The schedule is the SEC and 1 marquee season opener. That is what it has been, and will be in the future. If that is too tough, then again, the guy is at the wrong place to be, because it's not going to change.

I agree.
We aren't firing the coach any time soon any way. Let's just wait and watch what happens, and hopefully we can all enjoy a good season.
