Under no circumstance is it even remotely ok that the head coach of LSU to go on his radio show and talk about throwing a caller down a fishing hole. This isn't the mob.

Yes, it was a dumb thing to say. I agree with the OP. People are making much more out of this than it was. Outside of TD and some local radio/podcast folks, nobody really cares and looks at this no different than a streaker on the field.
When Ed gets fired, it will be for all the losses on the field the last two years. The other stuff doesn't help but 99% of the reason he gets fired will be wins & losses.

Does anyone actually think he was unironically threatening to have the guy killed? No shite, he was joking. It’s an issue of maturity. One of many, which have been stacking up lately. In case people haven’t noticed, we’re historically bad at football for two years running and the coach is fighting boosters at fishing camps and supposedly banging coeds. When you look at the big picture, yeah, this joke looks pretty damn bad.

I get that the comment about the fishing hole was unprofessional, but it was a meaningless jab that goes along with his “good ole boy” persona. People are acting like it was a legitimate death threat. It was clearly a joke.
This is exactly what kept LSU down in the past, and why Saban made such a positive impact here.

The fact that this is even a discussion speaks to how low we had to go to get this guy and give him this opportunity.

But you also must factor in that Ed just a few months ago went onto someone else’s property and threatened them, someone that supposedly is a booster. You also must consider that Orgeron has a history of violence being how he deals with things.

Saban doesn't boast about whupping someone's arse, he preaches achieving excellence.
There is a significant difference in the mindset.
This is why Saban's players usually say practice is harder than games for them, and could be why LSU can't seem to get it's shite together and make adjustments. O probably doesn't get the principle of defeating a concept (a scheme), he focuses on trying to push the opponent around, and doesn't understand how that can be used against you.
That might be why he wanted to remove Aranda's influence on the defense, it was "too sissy" for his tastes. He wants smashing, not skill, first.

I’m not bothered at all by the comment. I don’t think it was a big deal.
I am VERY bothered if the threat to the booster was true. But this was harmless. He was just trying to get a laugh while basically telling the caller stfu. Anyway, starting to beat a dead horse so.
