Ed Orgeron says he's "going to be more involved with the defense" under Daronte Jones than he was with Bo Pelini. Says he told every guy he interviewed that was the plan.

Looks for LSU's defense to be based out of a 4-3 still.

Now we know why this was a difficult hire.

Don’t love that...

I do Agree we’re well suited for a 4-3. People can hate on it all they want, it works when you have the players and we have the players.

We are for the first time in a long time DEEEP at DT, and DE. Asking them to eat blocks to We can put everything on our LBs shoulders may not be the way to go right now.

I thought he wanted to be multiple?

You can have 4 man fronts out of 3-4 as well.

You don't think Saban gets involved with the defense, or Riley with the offense?

Or maybe it means more communication.

Ahhh. Now I see why Arnett wanting full autonomy was such an issue.

Fine, as long as he knows that he will potentially be signing his own death warrant. If he meddles with the defense and they suck balls again, he will shoulder 100% of the blame. Just when you think that maybe he’s learned his lesson, he does something stupid yet again. I guess we’ll see how this turns out.

Ummm... both of them are legit gurus on that side of the ball. They are not a glorified DL coach that has literally done nothing else besides that and recruit.

After the way things went last year, I’m sure every head coach would do the same. This really isn’t a big deal to me. Head coach’s have this right and exercise it regularly. As long as he doesn’t interfere with the offense again, things should be fine.

anybody else around LSU in the 90s getting a feeling of Dinardo DeJa Vu?

Dinardo was a fast talking recruiter type with a pretty low ceiling for the technical side of football. He comes in with a brilliant PR strategy, gets LSU fans excited and has some great early success (KFaulk).

Dinardo had a relatively strong staff, started to really turn LSU Football around, then he Lost OC Watts and DC Reese. He made some disastrous hires (OC McConnell and DC Tepper) and pledged to "get more involved" with the offense (became a micro-managing control freak) and the team fell apart in spectacular fashion.

The difference is DiNardo was actually a top tier offensive coordinator at one point and not just spending his entire career as a position coach.

This is worse than the DiNardo stuff.

Don't care if it's a 2-9 as long as it works.
FYI When Bill Bellecheck was DC with the giants he used a
2-9 against the Bills in the Super bowl to slow down their passing games it worked well!!

I absolutely refuse to believe O didn't jump in and try to fix things toward the end of last season when the defense was completely inept.

And they were still God-awful
