This term “opt out” is the same as quitting. Sugar coating it with a politically correct term does not change the fact that when a kid opts out, he is in reality quitting.

As fans, let’s stop coddling these kids with soft language. Call things what they are.

This isn’t my about the reasons for quitting as there are too many to name. Prepare for the draft, avoid injury, meaningless bowl game, etc…. But the bottom line is that they quit in order to do these things.
They quit to prepare for the draft…. They quit because they wanted to avoid injury…. They quit because they thought the bowl game was meaningless.

Again, this is not about the rationale to quit. It’s about the word. “Quit”
As much as that word stings, it ought to be used instead of “opt out”

Yeah can we just move on. I suspect most of the guys who were going to leave have already done so. Let's move forward with the guys we've got and the ones we're bringing in.

Tired of hearing about opt-outs, me.

When you quit the first time, it’s always easier to do it again the next time, and the next time, and the next time!

Shout out to the 38 loyal tigers that showed up! Remember the taste in your mouth after this game and let is drive you each day going forward.

Great. You can start by not calling them kids. They’re adults with salaries.

Amen. We get it, people gotta be in their feelings and bitch out about what they don’t understand, but it’s time to move on.

Opt-out really only came into the college football vocabulary when players could opt-out for Covid. They were opting out of the season but would return the next season. Guys now are just leaving the team.

You call it quitting. Others call it not wanting to play in a pointless game. To each their own I reckon.

A lot of players don't "want" to wake up at 5am for workouts, go to tutoring, watch film on Sundays. "Not wanting to do something" and "quitting" are very different. One is a feeling and one is an action.

So do we now look at the schedule, and decide which games are meaningful?

Players AND coaches should not be allowed to make these decision until after the season is over IMHO. I believe the "opt out" was born out of COVID related decisions, now we have players/coaches deciding which games they will play/coach in, not good.

It's only a matter of time before we see players quitting mid season. Right now they leave for "injuries" but not until the team isn't in contention for anything of value to them. Before long, they won't even claim injury status anymore. They'll just quit. I'm sure I'll get hammered for it by the quitters in life on this board but it's astounding to me how many fans/players see no problem with schools giving everything to these players and making commitments to the players worth hundreds of thousands of dollars per player, yet in many of the fans/players minds, the players don't owe the school any commitment whatsoever. That's a pretty shitty trait to be teaching young men.

If you work your arse off to prepare and they keep score, it is not pointless. If it is a nationally televised NCAA contest that counts towards all NCAA records, it is not pointless. If coaches and players salary/NIL deals are dependent on a number of wins or games, it is not pointless.

I don't think some of you ever made it off the kick ball field.

Tell the hundreds of players and parents, coaches, staff and others that help out these games on that it’s pointless…

And where do you draw the line on what is pointless vs meaningful?
When you only play for yourself then aren’t a lot of games pointless?

Some are and some aren’t. To me, they’re kids though. I’m pretty old and they’re all really young to me.
“Kid” is not derogatory by the way.

And Stop coddling them

Its a pretty important issue. It goes beyond football and well into the game of life. In my opinion football has such a huge following, that we don't want it to say the wrong things through actions.
