The cross division permanent rivalry crap is the reason we play Florida every year. But at the time that was implemented, Bama's annual East rival...Tennessee was on par with Florida as the 2 best programs in the East. The rest of the game vs SEC-E are on a rotation. There's no bias here...just a dumb cross division rivalry game that needs to be eliminated.

Because the SEC didn't want the addition of A&M and Mizzou to eliminate any existing rivalry games. Moving Auburn to the East would've ended Auburn's annual rivalries against the West teams. Then they would've had to change Bama and Tennessee's cross division rivals to be able to keep the Iron Bowl as an annual game

No it isn't. Outside of one 4 year stretch I believe in the late 60s (definitely close to then), we have played Florida in football every single year since before our first National Championship in 1958. It was a pretty obvious selection to have us be permanent cross division rivals because we were already playing them every year. It's a great game. I would have to bitch out of it just to play Vanderbilt, Kentucky, USC more. We need to add a 9th game so we rotate more and have an added game. I don't want to lose a great game.
