It is, what it is, and is a long anticipated return matchup in prime time. It will likely work out but kinda wish they would have opened with Louisiana Tech and have Clemson on week two, Note that Ohio State @ Texas is the second game for both as they open with cupcake matchups to iron out the kinks,

It's not an easy out.

I'm sure clemson really wishes they had a warmup before bringing a first year starter at QB into the real death valley at night too

It is the marquee game of Week 1 & College Gameday will be here. I’m all for it being Kiffin’s big debut

Ohio St plays Ball St, Texas plays Texas State. By no means am I saying upset alert, but I think Texas State could keep it respectable with Sark being vanilla for Ohio St.

Texas St has the most returning production returning on offense in the country. QB is a stud and they have two receivers that combined for 172 catches back.

They are well coached by GJ Kinne. I think it will be a solid win by the end of the season. They have been a popular wildcard Pac 12 winner pick.

But to the OPs point i wish we had ULL week 1 and Clemson W2.

Clemson is much worse off here. New guy at QB, bringing in zero offseason momentum, new faces all over the OL and DL.

LSU, however, is at home, carrying tons of offseason momentum, and holds a significantly more talented roster.

I'm just glad to finally get a good out of conference game at home at night. Screw those neutral site games.

And all of this has exactly what to do with the OP? Stay on topic.

Reports out of their camp is that the true freshman QB that didn’t play his senior year in high school is pushing the presumed favorite. We are going to obliterate them

It's Clemson's first game, too. So, it's not like they are at some advantage. They don't get a cupcake to "iron out the kinks" either.

If LSU struggles in this game, at home, then it won't be a great season. Clemson does not have near the overall talent as LSU anymore. Dabo will likely be fired at end of season. LSU SHOULD win this game double digits with it never really in doubt. If they struggle, it is a cause for alarm for sure.

Who gives a crap about all of that? Are you a Texas fan or something? Kind of a weird response. If you wanted to say you wish Lsu had a cupcake opening day, that would be understood. To talk 90% about other teams tells me you are all Texas.

Its our first game and we have so many new players. My guess is it won't be a blowout.
