Because of Bama's schedule. If they're only loss was to LSU and they had 3 top 10 wins, they would be in before a 1 loss weak conf champ.

not Being in the conference championship I think will be the death blow to Bama.

Here is why

Unless the winner of the pac 12 has two losses they are in.
The big 12 while they look weak now have potential to jump Bama
Oklahoma plays Baylor this week. Baylor is unbeaten and has OU and Texas. If Baylor wins out (I doubt it) they jump Bama.
Oklahoma while they are 10 now have three more ranked games to play (Baylor, OK state, conference championship)
Minnesota could win out.

Looking at the potential one loss teams who would go in over Bama
If LSU loses to UGA Bama won’t make it
Oklahoma could jump Bama.
PAC 12 will jump Bama
If Ohio state loses conference championship they will stay in over Bama.

ESPN made a good point this morning. While Bama is number 5 they have nothing that will get them to number 4, unless they get help.

We are better than Bama we proved that but having to beat a team twice is never easy, and for Bama to sneak into the playoff after we beat them would be horrible, than for them to beat us would add make it even worse.

Don’t think a true tiger fan wants Bama again. That is the worst case scenario for us. A repeat of 2011.

Bama is not getting in over a one-loss Power 5 Champion unless that team is named Clemson.

There’s like 500 scenarios that could play out and all I see is LSU fans obsessed about what will happen with Bama. The tone is clearly they are the best team and they don’t want to play them again.

I think one very interesting angle is what happens if Auburn wins out. I think they might. Two home games they could win as dogs. A 10-2 Auburn team should be in the playoffs IMO. They’d have 3 top 10 wins and two possibly top 10 losses on the road. They would have done more than most teams in the country.
