No doubt, the cameras make a difference. But as many have said, watching games this week, our pitching staff is no where near good enough.

These teams all seem to trot out arm after arm sitting at 93-96

Remember that next time anyone wants to yank off our recruiting class rankings

Our pitching recruiting and development has been really poor. No offense to Garrett Edwards, but if he’s one of our top bullpen arms, we have a problem.

Garrett edwards is a fine bullpen arm for lsu, and potentially a starter

4 seam fb is straight. 2 seam has movement. Our guys have movement they just don't throw 97.

Did any of our pitchers aside from Fontenot even throw a 2 seam?

The Vandy pitchers are filthy.

I wish we could have that type of development.

Leiter and Rocker showed up on campus with dominant stuff. Corbin and his pitching coach do a great job, but they are working with elite pitching talent.

Can't believe both of those guys made it to campus.

But but but we have 10 undersized middle lineup utility guys that bat .250! We are stacking the talent!

I also hope people on here realize the radar guns at the SEC tournament and the CWS are juiced. So Marceaux would be at 95 -96. Fontenot would be 98ish etc….

I’d assume most of our pitchers throw a 2 seam. Isn’t it the best pitch to contact pitch?

We missed on too many pitchers prior to this last class.
But I would say Coleman improved a lot from day one and Edwards improved some. The other freshmen not so much.
We missed Beck. Vietmeir cane on late, but he wasn’t dominating like the guys on my CWS tv.

It was a joke, but to answer your question, I shite turds bigger than Will Safford.

The undersized joke was a jab at the rant, but the other piece of middle lineup talent utility players holds. You need those guys, but I feel like they inflate our recruiting rankings when we are light on dominant pitching.

IDK why all of them wouldn't throw 2 seam. It's the same pitch just gripping the ball differently.

you are being downvoted, but this has been a problem for a while. Flat four seamers and no wipe pitches.

I don’t know if our pitchers just don’t know how to pitch two-seamers and cutters or if they just aren’t good at it. But, if you’re going to pitch to contact, you need more than one variant of fastball. Especially if you’re a closer. Is it really that difficult to learn new pitches? That’s a serious question. I’ve never pitched before.

Not really. He touched mid 90’s in high school and consistently pitched in the low 90’s so he’s a few mph higher now. He was a consensus top 35 player in the 2019 draft but was considered unsignable from the start.

His fastball was topping out at 94 his senior year and his dad made comments about not letting him gas it back then to preserve his arm.

And he was perfect games 15th overall prospect in the country coming out of high school. Dude was dealing in high school. I also said they've developed them well, but the dude was always a stud.

True

Hill was overhyped even before he got hurt
Marceaux was a warrior, but he got little support abd he’s not a Leiter.
Labas was fine, but he needed a good D behind him.
Fontenot was excellent for his first inning of a weekend but he wasn’t able to sustain that very often.
Hilliard was terrible out of the pen, but flourished as a starter, Hd saved the season really.
The others were inconsistent. Sometimes you’d get a top performance, bug like true freshmen often are, they were inconsistent.
