Considering who's coming back in the SEC, not saying much to be honest. There's no more bryce young, Levis, Bennett. JD5 is a good qb but sometimes he makes bad decisions, or takes too long to make a decision. He HAS to get better if we're going to win a championship! Can't win it being as inconsistent as he was last season. Can't throw for 80 yds in an SEC game and expect to win a championship

There were moments and games last year where he was great. But there were also moments where he held on to the ball way too long and caused the offense to be inefficient. He was sacked an SEC leading 43 times. That wasn't ALL on the OL and really shouldn't be the case for a guy as elusive as Daniels. His yards per attempt at 7.51 was in the bottom half of SEC QBs, and his longest pass completion of the year was 54 yards...last in the SEC among starting QBs. As a passer ALONE he was very average (relative to the other SEC QBs) and not terribly explosive. Of course, he was far and away the best "runner" from the QB spot in the SEC. Considering LSU did not have traditionally great running game he somewhat had to carry the torch in both roles.

I think much of the frustration comes from the fact that you'd see flashes of the offense being dynamic and unstoppable...quickly followed by moments were it was just stagnant if teams could keep Daniels from escaping the pocket...which is what started to happen a bit in the final three games vs. Arkansas, A&M, and Georgia.

STILL, it was foolish to not want him back this season. Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida are all having to replace their starting QBs and, no matter what, you can't "coach" experience. The single biggest reason LSU will be picked as one of the top teams in the league going into the season is because they are returning a (at worst) good starting QB with tons of experience whereas the other contenders aren't.

This can’t be. 40% of the Rant tells me he sucks.

Anyone with a brain and eyes can see Jayden Daniels is a very good quarterback and we are very lucky to have him in purple and gold.

Who do you rank in the SEC above him?

As of right now, Daniels is the clear #1 in the conference.

Correct..Considering the only teams that return a QB in the conference is LSU and Vandy id say there is no question

There isn’t a thinking process. They just don’t like one thing about him, but they’ll act like it’s bc he can’t read a defense
I swear this board can never go one page without bringing up race when discussing JD5

FTR I think he’ll be a Heisman contender this season. Hell, he was last season up until the final game.

Some people on here think he is just trying to boost his stats, but he is a really good college quarterback.

Arkansas Ole Miss South Carolina Auburn Tennessee QB started the last few games. That's damn near half the league with us and Vandy that brings back their starting QB

Talk is cheap. One year the talking heads are stupid, they picked us middle of the pack.
The next year they are astute judges of potential, they picked us near the top.

My guess is Bryce Young the reigning Heisman winner and they were correct imo, Bama had the worst defense since Saban's first year in 07 which was their main issue. Young was the last of their problems and losing him is going to hurt them next year imo

it would be okay if it ended there, but there are some fans that really think the dude completely sucks. I asked some Daniels hater online if his 3800 Total yards (2nd all time by a LSU QB), and 29 total TDs (2nd all time by a LSU QB), was all passing stats and we won the same amount of games, would he consider Daniels a good QB? He never replied to me, because he knew his opinion would be stupid either way he went.

Sure Daniels has some things he can improve on. All the idiots saying he is what he is or that he's a finished product are stupid. If that was the case then Jalen Hurts would have never become what he has become. Aaron Rodgers neither.

Now he has a full off-season and doesn't have to win a starting job. He can focus on improving with his team. He doesn't have to adjust to the SEC speed anymore, nor is he behind a poor OL, learning a new system, or developing chemistry with his receivers.

I think he's going to go back to the days where he just let it fly, like when he was a freshman. This time in more control as his 68.6% cmp is also 2nd all time in LSU history.

I guess he's the same as everybody else that's not a LSU fan then. I consume everything LSU football and it is a 100% fact that only dumb LSU fans think the kid sucks. Most think LSU has one of the top QBs in the entire country.

Bennett threw for 116 and 1 int vs Kentucky and UGA won 16-6. The year before he threw for 161 yards, completed 52% of his passes for 1 TD to 2 ints and beat UF 34-7. Both years they won a national championship.

There are other aspects of LSU's game that are CLEARLY not up to snuff. The defense fell apart late in the year and threw some games like Auburn. Special teams was a complete joke. The run game minus Daniels was okay at best. There were at least 5 dropped TDs with Daniels and at least one with Nussmeier by receivers. This ENTIRE team needs to improve.

Exactly. Jayden is a very good QB, but he's going to have to be a more consistent passer for LSU to legitimately compete for a national title. The main reason for that is LSU's running back corps isn't very strong. Daniels is going to have to be a dominant force running and throwing the ball. We know he can do it with his legs, he needs to take the next step as a passer.

That's a lot to put on one person's shoulders though.

There tops last year were Young, Hooker, and KJ Jefferson. Some had Will Levis at #3, some had Will Rodgers at #3. The clear top 2 were Bryce Young and Hendon Hooker though and neither disappointed. Despite only playing in 12 and 11 games respectively, both finished #3 and #4 in the conference in total pass yards and #2 and #3 in total pass TDs.
