He did a great job after the chaos caused by Lane and their AD.
What? Removing the basketball goal from the sideline?
Easiest job in the world if he has been paying attention to the HCs he has worked for in the past 20 years, especially Saban.
Paint Kiffen as the bad guy that deserted them in their best season in history
Put all the responsibility for their total season on them so they get super focused for the CFP; winning it all will show the world that it hasnt been LK that made this team but it is you, the players. So they have the responsibility and get the glory.
Keep saying "it's not about me or the coaches now" "it's the players"
And beg Lane to let Charlie Jr and some others stay because the "players deserve to have a fighting chance to win this thing"
Now, go get a haircut, a beard trim and a decent suit and start trying to sound like a HC instead of an analyst(oops, still cursed like a GA trying to act like an adult)
And then only stay in the game because Miami dropped 4 interceptions that would have taken points off the board and set up the Canes for more 13 play, time consuming drives against the fab D of Coach Pete!
Then let the methodical offense of Miami stay on the field for 88 plays and run up 457 yards of O and DOMINATE TOP 41 minutes to OM's 18. BTW, OM's offense did a good job of gaining 398 yards but were only 2-10 on 3rd downs while UM was 11-19 on 3rds and 2-2 on 4th downs.
Clearly, Miami won by beating Ole Miss' defense in every stat and that was the difference.
Lastly, if keith Carter doesn't admit to himself that Lane Kiffen would have made a difference of at least 5 points over the course of the game, then Carter was overpaying LK by about $ 8,000,000 per year and fans should demand a refund!

Really Ole Miss eventually lost to the team that should be called the U Miami Cheaters. Look at that last play again-- how can a defensive back commit pass interference for forty yards down the field and not get a flag? That's uncanny, weird, bizarre.
Ole Miss got away with blatant PI earlier in the game.
Refs almost never make a call on a last play hail mary like type of play. Looked like both guys may have been grabbing at some point? I am not rewatching the play. because it doesn't even matter. Also, wasn't the ball thrown more OOB anyways? Not saying uncatchable, but definitely didn't look easy.
And if you make that call it's 15 yards and they still only have one more play that will still likely be a passing play.

Game should have been a blow out with Miami dropping 4 INTS…

Loser sports writers were over here celebrating Pete stuffing Lane and LSU in a locker over and over for keeping players, getting a washed relic that can’t coach, a big eared Gm that spent like 30m on a 7-5 roster and grabbing someone from our worst in history oline. All the while ole miss plays its biggest game ever and they are focused on LSU

Golding was coming to Lsu originally with Lane until he got the job then he acts like everyone else is betraying ole miss dudes a joke

Ole Miss lives in LSU heads for some reason
Posted on 1/9/26 at 6:06 am to ROPO
They lost in large part for the same reason we lost certain games this year. We couldn't get the other team's offense off the field allowing 15 play drives.

The time of possession tells the story 18 min ole piss and 41 for Miami

Miami's O-line was the difference. Dominant all night. They could have run the ball for 250 yards if they wanted to and why they continually got way from it was their only real mistake all night.
11/19 on third down and 2/2 on 4th down
And the rushing stat don't even tell how good they were because their downfield blocking on some of those screens was brilliant.
They won't be able to play that sloppy and win a title and they;ll be without Xavier Lucus for the first half too. They'll be pulling for Oregon for sure.

And it was chaos. Ole Miss was dealt a bad hand at season's end. Like them or not, rational adults know they dealt with off field issues like no other team.

If at his intro PC he would have said what he said the other day I would have respected him. But he was walking back all the shite talking about Lane.. even going as far as taking shots at his personal life.. faaaak him

This comment highlights LSU's issues this season.
Ole Miss Defense couldn't stop the run scheme of Miami. Their defensive shifts were their downfall. Miami did the WR screens with Tony like we needed to do with Xavion Thomas, but Miami executes them to perfection. The two biggest differences were the backwards pass aspect - which gives the receiver more time to find a lane. And having an actual, functioning offensive line who gets to the second level and kicks arse.
Defensively - LSU would give up long drives due to PENALTIES more so than anything opposing offenses were doing. Ole Miss played pretty sound, penalty free defense - they just got dominated by a well executed offense.
For next season, Baker has got to clean up the penalties and figure out how to stop the Miami offense, because it will be copied.

ridiculous overturned targeting
Its hard to target someone when you were going for the ball and only see them half a second before you collide.
Watch it again.

The way I look at it the Miami offensive coordinator needs a stiff rebuke
Because Miami was destroying OM at scrimmage all night
Every run was six or 7 yards.
And then they got cute in play calling . Took an unfortunate sacks crushing a couple of drives that would’ve ended Mrs. Hope’s.
Miami should’ve had three interceptions that went through the defensive back hands
So you also had Lacey with a hamstring injury
He had that one 72 yard run, which was amazing because up into that play Ole Miss could do absolutely nothing offensively
Miami was the better team at the line of scrimmage by a significant margin
That game should not have been close in my opinion
I thought Ole Miss played pretty well on defense given how they were on the feild all night
They’re a very good team, but they are not a championship team and they Damn nearly got to the championship game because Miami was being stupid
