Couldn't have picked a better weekend to come back. Your kids will experience campus and Baton Rouge at it's very best. Hope ya'll have a blast

Regarding nightlife, I would definitely tell them to check out Fred's Friday or Saturday after the game. Win or lose it will be fun. Cover and lines will be ridiculous though, so tell them to go over there and get a wristband sometime Saturday before the game. They should check out Ivar's or Uncle Earl's on Perkins in the Overpass area Friday night. Both are local dives but usually really fun on Fridays before gameday. If it's too packed or just not their vibe they can always relocate to Fred's.

Fred’s is gonna be an absolute shite show that weekend. I’d probably skip that

Rathskeller downtown was our joint of choice. Best sausage/hot mustard ever. Pretty good jukebox and dance floor too!

Fred’s isn’t really only Frats. If you have college aged kids I’d check it out.

Just make sure you tell them that if they go to Freds, do not ride through the neighborhood behind it. I’m sure it has changed since you have been back, but that is not what it looks like anymore

Any truth to the rumor that Murphy's is making a comeback?

The Bengal. I got my truck broke into and my $1000 stereo stolen there one night. Brick through the side window. Cop station right across the street those assholes wouldn’t come check it out. I had to bring the truck to them

Yep, it’s reopening on Chimes Street.

What about some love for the Bayou? It was a sad day when that place burned down. I remember drinking pitchers of Turbodog and shooting pool there. Instead of a jukebox or DJ, they played vinyl albums.

I don’t the know the University Pub. The Dugout was around in late 80’s and early 90’s I believe.

Every time I went out it started at the bayou. Usually I would move on to different bars around BR but not always

Yeah, I was a bore. I was an athlete too (track), so was either training or studying.

But there were some wild times in Broussard Hall. The parties often came to us!

The good news is that I learned liner algebra and how to build/program computers. That has been quite handy for the past 30 years.

Always funny. Contrary to LSU sports fan beliefs, most LSU students do not do the bar scene or even actively follow sports. I know, hard to believe but it’s true.

My clearest memory of Fred’s is when my crazy arse friend, who apparently had a death wish, taunted Eric Hill in the parking lot telling he wasn’t shite and we’d whip his arse. Fortunately he was so obviously drunk that Hill just shook his head and let us live…
