I have rarely visited BR since I graduated in '93. But I'm returning for the Alabama game and bringing my college aged (undergraduate and graduate) kids and some of their friends.

They want to check out the nightlife on Thurs, Fri, or Sat. And I have no ideas. I'm guessing they can figure it out, but was hoping a young person could provide some ideas.

I will not be joining them.

When I was at LSU, I was too poor and too busy with engineering to go out much. Back then, a big 'party' for me was bowling in the Union or getting a sandwich at the gas station that is now the S&P on Nicholson. I vaguely remember a place called Sports Illustrated for dancing and Fred's was for the frats. From Google maps, it looks like Tigerland is about the same?

So looking for a recommendation on the best night and place.

Fred’s isn’t really only Frats. If you have college aged kids I’d check it out. Usually Friday nights at Fred’s there is a mixture of college aged and older folks. It’s fun but don’t expect it to be nice. It’s a shite hole that you go to get drunk at.

Sports Illustrated was the bar next to Fred’s. That is in Tigerland. You used the term Tiger Town. That is what they used to call the area where the Chimes is now.

Your children may want to experience Fred’s and the Tigerland bars but you would be a fish out of water over there these days. I lived there from 1980-1983 and could walk to those places.

Fred’s is solid and not exclusive to Greeks. That would be Bogie’s.

Can’t really go wrong with Tigerland (if that’s their thing)

Outside of campus, Bulldog is really good

ETA: I would, however, avoid Reggie’s

Do NOT go to Reggie's. Fred's is alright. I would suggest going to the Bulldog.

We both mentioned the same suggestions and got downvoted. Reggie’s owner must be lurking

3rd St downtown is a solid option. Have a couple bars that play live music if that’s there thing.

Fred's and Bogies were my favorites (lived in BR 2016-2019). We would usually go to Bogies on Thursdays, but there wasn't always a crowd. Fred's on Friday. Ivar's and Uncle Earl's are away from campus but are fun when there's a crowd. There's also bars downtown. If going downtown, I recommend Happy's or Boudreaux and Thibodeaux's.

On game weekends the Fred's instagram usually shows a parent or two there.

I do not plan to attend. I just want to point them in the right direction. :)

That sounds like a dangerous question to answer. As pics would then be demanded. LOL

Ah, that's right. Tigerland.

I do remember going to Sports after the '88 Auburn game. That was pretty amazing. I believe Shaq an Stanly were there, towering above everyone.

The Caterie burned down right? Bogie’s used to be the Dugout. I spent many a Thursday night at the Dugout all you can drink for like $5 bucks or something.
