The book is about Choo Choo Justice who played at UNC.

Not according to Frank Deford, the author of Everybody's All American. Gavin Grey is a fictional character that isn't based on anyone. Also, the ending of the book is completely different than the movie. A tragic end for Gavin Grey that couldn't be confused with any actual player.

And at half-time.

They actually paid the Alabama Band not to perform at half-time so they could use their field time to film a scene with Tiger Stadium crowd......….

They filmed part during half-time, I seem to recall. They had folks in a portion of the stadium dressed in 50’s outfits to simulate a crowd from that era for some crowd shots. The rest of us were just supposed to make noise.

Yes. They had a house in Bogalusa. His wife was a boxing promoter. Her younger brother was a golden glove and died tragically at a young age. His nickname was hotdog and went to St Paul’s. I believe they got divorced and John still has a house uptown in Nola. They just had the one daughter.

Negative
Turn your sarcasm meter on.
When they filmed the scene, Quaids character was referred to as the Grey Ghost over the PA.
Anyone that was at the Game remembers this...

I worked at a photo lab in Cortana Mall when this movie was being filmed. All kinds of former football stars came in to our shop. I remember meeting Cliff Branch and told him about the time I watched him and Colorado torch the LSU defense then they played in Tiger Stadium back in the day. I was amazed at how small he was.

These were also salad days for coke dealers in Baton Rouge, and I used to get a big hoot watching a bombed Dennis Quaid do post-game locker room interviews with LSU players.

I’ve heard for a long time that he owns or owned one of those insane mansions on the river in Madisonville by the bridge.

He used to own a bar in Chalmette, called Johnny B Good's, or something like that. It was a LONG time ago.

Wikipedia tells us:

quote:

Goodman went to Affton High School, where he played football (offensive guard and defensive tackle) and dabbled in theater. After graduating in 1970, he took a gap year. He earned a football scholarship to Missouri State University (then-called Southwest Missouri State University, or, "SMSU") in Springfield ... After an injury ended his college football career, Goodman decided to become a professional actor and left Missouri for New York City in 1975

quote:

Goodman married Annabeth Hartzog in 1989. They met at a Halloween party at Tipitina's when he was in New Orleans, Louisiana filming Everybody's All-American. His wife is originally from Bogalusa, Louisiana and they are residents of the Garden District in New Orleans

Goodman was recently interviewed by Marc Maron on his WTF podcast. He talked a good bit about how much he loves New Orleans.

It is, it’s a mirror of Cannons life so as an LSU fan I’d consider it essential.

They did at one point, it was right across from Friends. You know the really big one? That's not it. It was the one next to it. The obscenely huge one belongs to a plastic surgeon.

I remember that. A section of the stadium was dressed in retro clothes. It was awesome

So as your punishment you need to go watch Everybody's All American and write a report back in this thread by the end of the week.
