That’s not how this works.. you have that opportunity in HS, sure. Not as a 4th and 5th year Senior with no leverage or negotiability.

The Golden Spikes winner last season was a senior and got drafted in the 3rd. Golden Spikes winner this season got drafted in the 2nd. There is a 99% chance that a senior will never get picked in the 1st round.

Then the whole system needs an overhaul to incentivize staying in school
Why would MLB change their system to benefit anyone other than them?

Why would the MLB draft be changed to help kids lean towards school? This isn't the NCAA putting on the draft.

But if he improves from a 12th rounder to a top 4 rounder and has proven his worth.. teams really lowball like that?
Yes
Cole Freeman was drafted in the 4th round, got $150k ($390k slot)
Kramer was drafted in the 4th round, got $150k ($425k slot and after turning down $250k the year prior as a 32nd round pick)
Poche was drafted in the 9th round, got $40k ($140k slot)
Blake Dean was drafted in the 8th round, got $35k
Austin Nola was drafted in the 5th round, got $75k
Louis Coleman was drafted in the 5th round, got $100k

Why would the MLB incentivize to stay in school? This is an MLB draft.. not a college draft.
Like others have said, this is a business.

lsubombs on Twitter saying Noot removed his name from the draft.

That probably lines up with his NIL video just posted.

Were there any other SS on the market?

The system already forces you to stay at a 4 year school (should you choose that) for at least 3 years or until you hit 21.

Looks like Guidry might be starting at SS as a freshman.

The obvious solution is for the CBA to dictate that you can’t go below slot value.

Must have missed Thompson getting drafted.

Why would major league baseball, to their own detriment, overhaul their system to benefit college baseball?
