I wonder if Mainieri knew he'd sign with another D1 when he released him from the LOI.

And the Brewers have to know Turang’s intentions earlyish Friday or they won’t have time to get the rest of the guys they want signed.

Makes for an interesting little Friday.

Yes, and it’s guys in rounds 14, 15, 16 etc. these are kids that can play. A lot different than guys in rounds 38 or 39.

While we are pining for Turang, Mississippi State has 2 first round pitchers that remain unsigned.

Carter Stewart (8) Braves
J.T. Ginn (30) Dodgers

If they get either of those guys, I’m gonna be pissed.

It’s possible one or both end up JUCO if not signed

Think Mainieri probably knew because he didn’t have to be released to sign juco.

He was a senior - no leverage. More than likely, his low signing bonus is the reason he went in the 10th round. The drafting team knows they can sign him under slot, allowing them to use the rest of the slot to oversign at other draft spots.

“We’re going to offer you 10k”

A senior doesn’t have any negotiations

College senior, no leverage to negotiate. Take it or go get a real job. Frees up money for other draft picks.

Same reason KR got picked in the 3rd round or whatever it was. Definitely not because he's a prospect. Just a cheap sign for a club

Uhhhhh Kramer is definitely a prospect...he got picked in the 3rd round because he’s good and if they didn’t pick him there, someone else would. The hell are you talking about?

If they're a top 10 round guy and they don't sign the team loses the full slot value so that's a little leverage they have.

Lol no he's not. He was a bargain pick. He's a roster filler in the minor leagues that's all.

How much did kramer sign for? That will tell you if he was a prospect that was coveted or a bargain signee

I think Kramer signed for $150k with a slotting allowance of $425k.

Well he signed as a senior so he most likely didn't get much. I can't find exactly what he signed for though.

However as a junior Cleveland selected him in the 32nd round and he gave up 250k to come back to LSU
